Title: Supermarionation
Post by: Mike Scott on August 28, 2025, 04:11:12 PM
Been rewatching some of these old 1960s UK series'. :)

Watched the run of "Thunderbirds" and just finished with "Fireball XL-5". Gonna start "Stingray" next.

Would like to see "Supercar", "Captain Scarlet" and "Joe 90". Will have to see if they are streaming free, anywhere.

I did these runs a few years back.  Added U.F.O. and Space:1999 afterwards.  Check out Tubi...

Don't forget the two Thunderbirds movies.

I remember "SuperCar", "Fireball XL-5", and "Thunderbirds"
but none of the others. My brother was always a bigger fan
of them than me. I used to have a 16rpm record of the
theme from "SuperCar" but can't find it anymore.  :-\

MPC made some great Fireball XL-5 toys.

I had one of the smaller sets with the character figures and a couple of vehicles. I thought about buying them back but they're pricey these days.

Neat-O! Keen-O!

How come "LT. 90" didn't get pictured on the box?

I think all the shows are on Amazon Prime too.

Only 4 more episodes of "Supercar" to go, and then "Stingray" is next.

"Supercar" is fun, and the characters are likeable. The monkey is less annoying than the "alien/monkey" thingy in "Fireball XL-5".

Completed "Stingray" and am almost done with "Captain Scarlet". They've both fun! I like the way that CS fights the same bad guys (Martians) in every episode. I hope they have an end to their war on the last one.

"Joe 90", next and then I'll be done!  :)

Disappointed! The last episode was a "cheater"! :P  And they just had a cheater 3 episodes earlier!

Watched the first epi. of "Joe 90". If they are all as "blah" as this one, I'll never make it to E-30.

Perseverance... you've already come a long way.

The 2nd and 3rd episodes were better. Still not as fun as any of the earlier series'. The characters are dull.  Guess I can tough it out.  ;D

Epi. 4 was their homage to "The Wages of Fear".  ;D

Finished "Joe 90". It was a good show. The stories were all interesting and the miniatures, models and effects were the best of any of their series'. I even warmed up to the characters, a bit, after a while.

Well, that's it for me! All of the Anderson's SF puppet shows. It was fun! :)  Just missed out on the 2 "Thunderbirds" movies.

Now, I'm done!  :)

Watched the 2 "Thunderbirds" movies. They were both pretty good, especially the miniatures and FX.

Think I might top it off with another viewing of "Journey to the Far Side of the Sun". More cool Derek Meddings FX and Barry Gray's very nice score.

I think I'll add "Journey" to my list.  I don't believe I've seen that yet.

Fun movie! I've probably seen it a dozen times. Love the opening sequence with Herbert Lom as a spy.  :)

Hello Monster Lovers,

I've been watching Gerry Anderson's Thunderbirds. Currently watching the first film - Thunderbirds Are Go.

Been away for a while. Medical issues and all. The glory of old age! I've also suffered from Synth-Fever. I wanted to post an image from my PC, but couldn't figure it out. Anyone know how?

Going in for surgery tomorrow. I hope to survive it, if not, it's been great to be on this site. Take care all.

All positive vibes on your procedure, tomorrow. Looking forward to hearing from you when you're able.  :)
