Title: Is anything EVER going to be done about the galleries?
Post by: Dr.Terror on June 28, 2025, 11:06:08 AM
What's the deal?     The photos have to be somewhere.      If its   a matter of folks just not feeling like doing it , or knowing how , I'll help.     Im sure others will to.   It can't be that hard.

It only took 20 years the first time. How hard could it be to redo it?

All you have to do is replace all the missing photos with new ones. Annnnnnnd GO!

If I read the situation correctly, the only hope is that someone copied and saved every picture to a hard drive. If anyone has the pictures, they could step forward here?

There are ways to get things done, and this isn't it.

They had to have been hosted somewhere. Does no one currently involved have that information? For that matter, who posted them in the first place? I remember sending some images to Mike, ages ago. Were those not labeled and archived on a drive or host site?

Using the Way Back machine internet archive, you can see it from 2019.

Is there a direct link to the gallery that anyone has, if so we could see if it was archived there?

Looks like I can answer my own question.
"Guests are free to browse the forum, but you must register to post messages and view the Gallery."
So, the Internet Archive route is closed. Sorry.

It's all there, except the photos. All you have to do is "edit", add the new photo from your PC and save.

I probably have most of the Creature photos, but I never saved the others, so, I'd have to scour the internet to see what's out there and that would probably take more years than I have left.

Like I said, I have the Creature photos, but my files are just one big jumble. I've thought abought about organizing them, but wonder if that how I want to spend my time.

Yes, but, apparently they lost all (most) of them. I'm not the sight owner, so I don't deal with those people.

I don't think Wayback stores many of the images, anyway. I've looked at old sites and most of the photos don't show up.

It sounds like a logistical nightmare. Pictures sourced online and used without permission leave you open to legal problems, and getting them from collectors would take forever. If anyone would like to spearhead this effort, please be careful and read up on image rights and fair use laws here and abroad. Go through old threads here, find pics posted that are not behind a photobucket paywall, and ask the person that posted them if you can use them.

Purchase a website, server space, and lots of bandwidth because images take up space and lots of bandwidth. Spend months building the website and a year correlating images keeping track of the source for each image. Then go live and get harassed by the people you did it for because you did it wrong.

Sounds like a great way to spend my golden years.

I would always use the mfg photos, when available.
