I saw this movie (from Pinewood Studios) when it was first released in the states, 1966-67. I vividly remember dragging my dad to see it with me as horror movies weren't his cup of tea.
Flash forward 50 some years later and I ran across it again, this time on YouTube . What through me for a loop? It was in color!
What's more, the color was atrocious. The movie looked like some amateur had attempted colorization with limited knowledge of how to do this.
A little research revealed it was released in B&W here in the states, but was apparently in color elsewhere?
Does anyone know whether this was a common occurrence and if the original color version looked as garish as the version on YouTube?
Seeing the film again brought back lots of memories and some interesting questions.

I have seen more than one copy of the film in color and , yes, it seems to look pretty garish in these versions as well..I dont think I have ever seen a print of it that didnt look rather washed out and crappy. It would be nice to get to view it with a sharpened , restored print somehow. It was originally released in color in the UK
