It was in 1965 that the first ads appeared, reportedly in
Genii, The Conjuror's Magazine. I don't have any back
issues that old but the full page color ads from Famous Monsters
are fondly remembered.

It was also in 1965 that the masks debuted live at the
"Monster Daze" shows hosted by Unimart stores in the
greater Los Angeles area.

All those original versions crossed over into the 1966
Monster Calendar except for the "smooth Glenn" Frankenstein.

By then it had been replaced by a larger resculpt.

The other characters remained in production but not Dracula.
Due to a court ruling, it was dropped from the series within
a year or two. For decades to come, it was the most coveted of
all the "Calendar" masks.

We were all thrilled to see Dracula officially approved for
reissue in 1998.

... and the rest, as they say, is history.

Reply with pics of your DPS/Universal Monsters. We'll need them all
here to help their creator Verne Langdon eat that birthday cake!
