Title: "The Monster Gallery" on tour
Post by: Sir Masksalot on October 27, 2024, 12:10:28 PM
"The Monster Gallery" began as a half-hour show I produced
for community television back in 1990. It then evolved into
a live lecture series which I hosted at area libraries and
seasonal events. Now it's a traveling exhibit featured
at conventions and Halloween-related functions.

This weekend saw an extra large Gallery for a local festival.
It took me five hours to set up all eighteen heads with lights
and music >

It made for a decent overview of classic scifi/horror/fantasy from
Melies' Trip to the Moon (1902) through the fabulous fifties >

A few of our younger spectators actually claimed to have watched some of
the old movies represented. That's gratifying to me as my goal is to
perpetuate the memory of genre classics and encourage new generations
to watch them and see these monsters come alive!

Credit for the masks goes to Don Post Studios, The Halloween Society, and
a few others. As always, your comments and suggestions are welcome.

Oh man, what a cool display! Love the posters under each mask! Much better than just a name. That "Trip to the Moon" is trippy! Glad to see the silents so well represented.

That's an amazing display. Love the HS Beast, probably my favorite piece released by them. Also, who did that Rondo Hatton? That's a really nice looking piece.

Always liked the way you did that Mummy bust.  It makes all the difference displaying a Kharis head.

Well, it's rather confusing: The Great CoverUp and Post Studios
both catalogued Rondo masks within a few years of eachother.
Whether it's the same or a similar version, I could never tell.
