Title: My collection got flooded. Any advice?
Post by: Lazarus on October 16, 2024, 02:20:55 PM
So we got through the hurricane last week.  I had moved all of my movies to my storage unit because it was on higher ground and I was sure my house was going to flood, as the hurricane the week before had come inches from flooding us out.  Turns out, my house is fine, but the storage unit flooded.  All of my movies are wet now.  I tried to elevate things and put stuff in heavy duty trash bags but water got in anyway.

Does anyone have any useful links to how I should be working to save things?  A lot of stuff is going to be a loss, I'm thinking.  I don't know if I'm going to bother trying to get it all back.  It's so much time and effort lost.

How awful! Were your movies on film? Videotape? LaserDisc? DVD?

So sorry to hear it, Laz. If they are DVDs, it's mostly plastic, except for the cards, or any cardboard boxes. Worst come to worse, you'll still have the movies to watch.
