Oy! A couple more $200 Mondo Creatures! The linoleum one is already out, but I haven't pulled the trigger on it, yet.

Oh, that new 1//6 is gonna be a lot more than $200, I suspect (but less than the $2500 private edition it's based on).
The glow version of the vinyl figure is $125 and not quite sold out (https://mondoshop.com/collections/monsterpalooza-2024-online-exclusives/products/creature-from-the-black-lagoon-vinyl-designer-figure-by-attack-peter-glow-in-the-dark-variant), though the online version doesn't come with the print that was given to in-person buyers at Monsterpalooza, unfortunately. I doubt the black & white version of the vinyl figure will be more, but never say never.

If I'm gonna spend that much for a Creature toy, it's gonna have to be a vintage one. These Mondo things are just getting too expensive. 3 versions of a $25 toy is one thing, but #125! Maybe if I win the lottery.
Looks great, but I'm quite happy with the one from not that long ago. Also, not sure about the rubberized skin on the new one. That stuff tends to deteriorate... eventually.

That's the less than $200 one I was talking about. The new one is supposed to be very expensive. I don't know how much, but appearently a
lot!
And now they're doing a linocut version that I think is MUCH sharper than the color version.

It was originally a custom, limited to 20 numbered editions. Like Rainman Artworks, Beto is a renowned customizer. He charges what he wants to as a small indy, and people pay it. It's not any "better", but its strictly a limited custom vs. the one we are getting. Which is preferable to me, and I assume you too.

With the caveat that I'm not privy to Mondo's business, I know the business in general and am extremely confident in saying that is not the entire production run. Anything is possible, of course, but I don't think (again, I don't
know) that Mondo would have moved forward with the project if sales were that low, even though I believe (again, don't
know) there will be other "regular" editions of the figure in color and b&w (and I would push that even further were it up to me). I suspect that's not even the totality of US orders. But even if 564 is the total number of sold NA units, there's always a control number, in case of damage, as well as whatever marketing distribution, internal distribution, licensor distribution, and company reference or archive hold. Interesting though that these seem to have been trucked to Austin for bistro rather than a fulfillment company in a port city (Houston), but that just adds to the likelihood that it was more than 564 pieces. It is wild that this paperwork was packed into a costumer order, but at least it's not every customer account address.

A friend who is really into Mondo chimed in on this. Apparently they made an exclusive Merman from masters of the Universe for a convention they were attending. For whatever reason, they only did 33 of them. so weirdly low production runs do occur with them.

Yeah, the Sideshow Creature is great. I never took my Sideshow figures out of the box because they display well that way, so I never had any issues with them, even the rubber suited Creature. I remember buying it at Monster Bash in 2002 and being aggravated because the dealer jacked up the price to $50. I had been buying all the Sideshow 12" figures at retail outlets like TRU for $20-$30. Man, if we could only go back to those prices.

In 1998 when they first came out they were $10 or less at most stores. I couldn't believe monster toys that looked that good were that cheap. I bought 2 of each, one set to open and display like statues and one set to leave sealed. I still have them and still display the loose ones on my shelves.

We thought they'd never end! (But they did.)
The funny part is: we were complaining about the "inflated srp" back then. I remember it all too well. I was probably in the chorus, lol. 8)
It was great going to TRU back then and not knowing what to expect and even what to look out for 'cause you had no idea what any company was producing. Those Sideshow 8" figures blew me away.

Weren't they selling the Polar Lights/Aurora Unimonster kits around that same time?

I remember picking up some of the Prehistoric Scenes reissues around then. I also saw reissues of Rodan and King Ghidora which I should have bought. I did buy the big Godzilla kit and built it.
The best deals I ever got at a toy store was at Toy Liquidators. I bought the Sideshow Pozer Wolf Man for like $15, and most of the X-Plus Harryhausen figures for super cheap as well. They had the big boxed 7th Voyage Dragon for $20 and the big Cyclops for $15. I bought the smaller figures for $5 each and the big Talos, Ymir, and Kali for $8-$12 each. Even back then they could have sold those things for at least 2-3 times those prices, but Toy Liquidators always blew everything out fast and cheap. They were part of KB Toys.

Yeah, I picked up the Godzilla, Rodan and Ghidora. They also had some of the Planet of the Apes models including a 4-pak. This was around 2000-2001, I believe. Wish they would release Caesar again.
Any more news on the Mondo Creature rubber splitting? I see they are available at Mondo right now. I have a few silicone figures in storage and won't see if they've lasted until I retrieve them. I recently picked up one of these Hono Hot Toys Iron Man figure and it's one of the best figures ever IMO but I'm not sure how long it will last.
Can't get any pics to post...sorry

The fella who ripped his said he was aggressively testing the posing ability of the endo body, and then the rip occurred. I don't know how "aggressive" he was though. I wouldn't be aggressive with something that cost a small fortune though.

Were they back in stock again today? I know the in stock / restock email went out yesterday, but they were sold out within four or five hours and are currently (11:20PM EST 10/29) sold out.

I guess the last time I checked they were still available. I can't remember if that was yesterday or this morning.
