Post by: zombiehorror on April 02, 2024, 03:52:15 PM
Coming from Independent film production/distributors The Asylum. Article says March 29th, 2024? Can't be any worse than Van Helsing (2004)....

I just watched it on VOD. While the idea was unique, the execution left  me a little underwhelmed. The set locations were fun and the overall tone of the film appealed to the 12 year old in me. Unfortunately the costumes looked like they came straight from the Spirit Halloween store. I did like the look of an animated corpse whom reminded me of an old Psycho magazine cover. Other than that there wasn't much there.
Much of the film was dialogue and was delivered in a talking heads format. The ending action scenes varied between bad CGI and 1950s B films.  The producers obviously love those B films and did their best to capture that mood, even adding a warning "it's going to get scary", break for the audience .
The film only cost 7 bucks to watch, so I'm glad I did. I really hope James Gun will give us a great Creature Commandos film to bring some justice to the monster team up format. Here's hoping I never again encounter a version of Frankenstein's monster named Boris.
