If they were planning on a Halloween release this year, it looks like they missed the boat. Anybody heard anything new?

They have some similar Halloween kids, but not with Ben Cooper costumes.
Kids would still look great in those classic Ben Cooper costumes!

Anyway, are these coming out this year, or what?

Nah, they wouldn't wanna pay the Monster Squad licensing fee.
If interested, Walmart stores have stocked their shelves with Horror items from Neca, Trick or Treat Studios, Fright Rags, etc.
They have the Ben Cooper Kid figures of Witch, and Dracula.
Hope they get the other monsters in soon, as these two sold well, as there was only one of each available when I came upon them.

The Collegeville Monster Squad( not Ben Cooper) costume is definitely wrong. That costume was released as two different costumes. One being a poncho.
I wrote to ToyWiz inquiring why it's taking so long to get my order filled on these and they replied they still haven't received them from the distributor, and it may be the end of July before they get them. eBay scalpers have been selling these things for well over a month. The crap collectors have to put up with these days. ::)
Those with orders for Wave 1 with Toywiz, keep an eye on your email, I just got a cancellation notice, and an offer to get Wave 2 for the same price. Definite bummer, as I totally wanted Wave 1, but if I'm being honest will probably get Wave 2 anyway. With Neca doing their own issues of the BK Loot Crate monsters, I'm hopeful there will be a reprinting of these soon. I think they underestimated the popularity of these. Now I'm on the Wait List with other sites, should they ever come in.

I got the Toywiz email too. I've been here before with BBTS and the TOTS Candy Pails. I cancelled the order with the wizpr*cks and now they're on the sh*tlist of businesses I'll never deal with again. They can take wave 2 and spin on it. Preorders just make me a little sick at this point. You either give these con artists your payment info or pay upfront with Paypal and they get an interest-free loan. I'm done with it. I'll pass on the Ben Cooper Kids unless I get lucky and find them for $20 each. Found the Witch at Walmart and otherwise I'll be saving some money.

If they don't, I will let them know that it was my last order from them. $85 to $250 on eBay. (For 1 Creature!)

The way to hurt them is to get the word out about their unscrupulous practices. That's why I'm posting what happened to me on here. Make them pay for violating people's trust by costing them business. A preorder is a contract of trust and violating that to make a few extra bucks scalping is no small thing. Toywiz and Big Bad Toy Store stink of it.
Got my notice that I won't be getting the 5 toy "Wave 1", which I did not order. No responce to my email asking about my order for the BC Creature. Is it a good thing that they haven't refunded the $26.78 that they took out in Jan,? Has anybody gotten a refund for their canceled purchase?

I received my PayPal refund earlier today. I had to request cancelation of the order to get the refund even though the purpose of the email was to inform me they wouldn't be filling my order for Wave 1. They're pushing a replacement preorder for Wave 2 in place of the original order. I don't deal with liars and con artists, especially ones who jerk you around for months, so I cancelled immediately. Those figures aren't worth more than $20 each to me anyway.

It's annoying, but I'm accepting the swap for Wave 2. If they deliver, they'll come out to $18 each and save me the hassle of hunting in store.
Quote from: Mike Scott on August 23, 2024, 05:59:28 PMIf they want to send me all of Wave 2, maybe I can sell all of them for enough to buy the Creature.
Right now, those BC Kids are
flavor of the month, and honestly a girl with pigtails in a Creature costume isn't a great representative toy for the Creature. Also, with the demand for these things NECA is foolish if they don't make a lot more of Wave 1 and cash in. It may take a while, but where $$$ are at stake it could happen. So, if enough hit the marketplace scalpers may get stuck with excess product and people who overpaid for these things will feel pretty foolish. Overreacting to
flavor of the month leads to overspending and regrets for it.

IF.
Given that Wizzo (I'm purposefully not giving them any SEO) is pulling the same stupid "dynamic pricing" with series 2 that they pulled with series 1 (with several from w.2 already sold out), I wouldn't trust them with a nickel. I'm not privy to NECA's wholesale terms of service, and SRP is impossible to enforce, but it wouldn't surprise me at all to learn that dynamic pricing runs afoul of NECA's policies. Caveat emptor and all.

For anyone interested, series 3, comprised of The Alien, Beetlejuice cartoon version, and Gizmo and Stripe from Gremlins went up for pre-order today.
Amok Time Toys (https://amoktime.com/ben-cooper-6-clothed-figure-costume-series-3-set-of-4/) comes with my highest recommendation as multi-decade retailer with passion and integrity.
I can't give a stronger caution against attempting business with Toywazzo - never gonna use the real name because I don't want it searchable, but I'm taking about the company Mike just got a refund from.
Also, currently as of this post, available from Entertainment Earth (https://www.entertainmentearth.com/product/ben-cooper-costume-series-3-6inch-clothed-figures-set-of-4/nc43164aa) and Big Bad Toy Store (https://www.bigbadtoystore.com/Product/VariationDetails/289531?o=1).

Pre-orders on a great deal of items are much more valuable that chasing the fickle tail-end sale. While I can see NECA *perhaps* producing a boxed set "reprinting" series 1, that too would surprise me, as they were very upfront about the limited nature of the series. Preordered the entire Wave 1 set of these so snagged them at a reasonable price. However, I was disappointed that the Devil one wasn't an exact match to my costume as a kid. Then Wave 2 came out – and it was an exact match! I totally remember the Devil having hooped earrings and clawed hands on the front bib, so had to pick him up. But, as it turns out, I missed him at retail so had to go the eBay route. Wasn't reamed too badly, but would kick myself if I walked away. As much as I love these, however, I'm done collecting the line.

I hate that NECA used the Universal Monsters box on so many characters that never came in those boxes, and I'm glad they're using the accurate-to-the-costume boxes for this third wave. It's funny to see the Super Powers era-ish Super Man mask paired with the muti-decade running jumpsuit (which came with a red domino mask all these years) but using the Super Friends pillow case for a candy bag is an experience right out of men youth!

Same here. Aside from the silly aftermarket prices just the MSRP seems a bit steep- $20 for figures of this size seems a little excessive even with runaway prices on everything due to the ridiculous level of inflation everyone has had to endure. NECA is making a killing on these things, and flippers are making even more, just not at my expense.

Didn't they already do a WM and a MM?
Technically, Ben Cooper didn't even do a Mutant costume, back in the day. That was when Collegeville had the license that they did him.
So, I imagine, if they did do a Metaluna Mutant trick or treater figure, it would not look like the Collegeville costume. (But who knows?)
Quote from: YoungestMonsterKid on October 21, 2024, 08:27:05 PMSo, I imagine, if they did do a Metaluna Mutant trick or treater figure, it would not look like the Collegeville costume. (But who knows?)
I think it will look like the Collegeville costume, since they have the rights to Collegeville as well as Ben Cooper, and they've already released some Collegeville costumes as Ben Cooper in this line. Hopefully we shall see.
That said, I would love it if NECA could release all six costumes from the early 80's Collegeville Universal Monsters line or, if the rights prevent it, make a fantasy Collegeville Mummy costume to replace the Mutant in such a wave.

Off the top of my head, I know NECA used the Collegeville Monster Squad TV show Dracula mask with the Ben Cooper Dracula jumpsuit in series 2. I think the Witch may be a Collegeville release as well, but I'm getting that from what someone else said. I personally don't recognize that one, as it's outside my wheelhouse. But the Dracula mask is 100% the Collegeville Monster Squad TV show Henry Polic II as Dracula mask.
Here's a pretty good overview of the merch released around Monster Squad, thanks to Plaid Stallions (https://www.plaidstallions.com/monstersquad.html), and it shows off the costumes and masks from Collegeville very well.

I actually thought that Dracula looked familiar, like the Monster Squad Dracula. In fairness, the mask looks better than the actual Dracula mask Ben Cooper released back in the day.
I also realized the Vampire Girl was also a Collegeville mask, and YES the witch too.

Duh on my part! The Vampire Girl is the one figure I'm still looking for and I know it's a Collegeville costume! I just forgot at test time.
But, yeah, NECA is doing some mixing and matching, which I'm completely against, but I've also occasionally been accused of being no fun so... so it goes. But wouldn't the above Dracula costume have been incredible as an action figure, and way more in line with the others?
Wow, I had no idea any of these were Collegeville and that Neca had the license too. That means JAWS and hopefully JAWS 2 (same mask as JAWS) will be happening down the line. It does suck that they are mixing and matching, or unmatching in this case. Also sucks I missed out on Frankenstein. I wore that one and Hot Wheels as a kid.

Tuesday night at 9:30 I got a text from UPS that I have a package inbound from Rubies Costume (NECA) and today a message that it will be delivered tomorrow.
No shipping notices from NECA, and my recent orders still show Unfulfilled, but from looking at the package details on UPS, I'm guessing it's the Glow Invisible Man and Glow Ben Cooper Skeleton.

And I've excluded the 1963 - 196? Dracula because it has Bela on the jumpsuit, but it would have fit right in with the first series, by and large.
For any interested, a fun and quick interview on 13th Dimension by Dan Greenfield with Randy Falk, NECA VP & General Manager of Product Development focusing on the recently unveiled Ben Cooper Costumed Kids wave 5, DC Heroes, but covering the whole line in eluding Randy divulging he's loosely mapped 13 waves and that wave 6 will be a return to the likes of wave 1 & 2 and feature some "heavy hitters". Perhaps, but probably not until they are ready to ship to home. You've been at this long enough to know retailers aren't going to reveal any of that upfront. They literally bank on collectors' fear of missing out. Other than it simply may not be worth your time, efforts, or interest, I would think that securing a set via pre-order and then just dumping what you don't want on eBay the minute they arrive would likely pay for itself and even leave you with a no-cost Creature.
Well, never mind the idea of pre-ordering from NECA and selling what you don't want, the pre-order is now sold out. If interested, I'd watch EE, BBTS, and Amok Time for pre-orders, I believe BBTS in particular has offered individual characters. And NECA themselves will likely offer them once in stock, with the warning that any such window is almost assured to be very brief.
While its awesome to see NECA continue to thrive (even if these, TMNT, and others aren't my wheelhouse), I am just about ready to start contemplating turning into the ghost of Nicholas Medina if they don't get their Ultimate Vincent Price out to us soon.

That's what I thought, too, until I tried it. There's always some that nobody wants, unless they are buying the lot. Anybody want my non-Creature "Screamers" from 2021? I just paid 50 bucks for the Creature from the newest "Screamers" set. It was the chase, though.

Your order wasn't with any of the retailers I specified, was it? My memory is that it was placed with Toywiz, they of the super shady practice of "dynamic pricing" which, on its face, seemed to violate NECA's terms of service. For me, that's akin asking a random dude on the corner to hang onto your money rather than using a bank, and then pretending they're the same thing.
Speaking of ole Toywizzo, anybody who rolled their series 1 order over to series 2 actually get series 2? Just curious. It would be great if the company straightened out, not that they'll get anything from me.
I'm aware that BBTS came up short for some customers on what I *think* was their second round of s1 pre-orders (and that they were unable to fulfill pre-orders for the unrelated but also "hot" on the secondary market ToTS Creature and Frankenstein's Monster candy pails).
To my knowledge EE fulfilled all pre-orders.
Amok Time actually had a quantity available beyond their pre-order twice, once they were in-stock, and sold they them at retail rather than mark them up when eBay pries were at their height. I've shopped both in person and online with Amok Time for a couple of decades and can't say enough good things about them.
Those companies are, for a reason, the on-line retailers I exclusively recommend doing business with in terms of pre-orders, particularly for NECA product if one chooses to avoid pre-ordering direct from NECA.
Just to round it out, I've heard nothing but good things about FYE's fulfillment of their in-stock supply of these figures, though they sold through quickly and s2 was more expensive than s1.

And not part of the pre-order for that wave, which makes me wonder if it will be an online or convention exclusive (or both).
After missing out on all except the Two Walmart kids, I finally saw some Wave 2 at Target. Grabbed the only Phantom, and left the piles of Vampire Girl and Devil behind. They were hidden behind other figures on a shelf by someone, and I moved them all to the front. I just wonder if the NECA rep that stocks these left them in the back room all this time or if they sent wave 2 out late.
A heads up on this topic in case you don't look at all postings:
Walmart is restocking it's Bloody Disgusting Neca shelves (electronic/dvd dept) with Ben Cooper Kids-
Nosferatu
Capt Spaulding
Krampus
and the Glow wave, but all my local stores got 4 figures. Two Frank, One Vampire Girl and One Phantom.

I might grab a Wolfman or a Spiderman if they ever do one because I wore that costume two years in a row back in the day. I definitely won't chase them anymore. I will have to see it in person at a store.

Nope, they cancelled. What a crappy system Walmart has going. I'm not even sure they know what is going on with this whole thing. Do you take PayPal?
The "system" is that the toy comes up on a list at a store, and if they can't find the item they cancel. It doesn't go to the next store that is supposed to have it in stock, it just cancels. They don't keep those in stock at a warehouse, just sell existing store stock online and the shelf pullers come get it like they are filling the grocery orders when you order online.

Anybody know if they're planning to do the Marvel characters? Also, anybody know when the original Hulk costume ( with the Bill Everett inspired drawing) was changed to the Romita Art?
Apologies if this has already been answered.
Pure speculation on my part, but Mego took a few years to add Marvel to the line. We just don't know how the line is really doing, and if it would be going well at the time they would try to add Marvel.
I really want a Spiderman because that was my costume for two years as a kid.
Not horror related, but I was able to pick up the Batman by itself at a reasonable price via eBay. I think I'm done collecting these now, as nice as they are. As I recall, I would still need a Spider-Man, Tin Man, and The Fonz to mirror my childhood costumes, Fonz being my last Ben Cooper costume.

Love the JAWS "Chum Bucket"! ;D
I have the 2 Creature BC figures.
My local Target has the latest Ben Cooper Kids sets, and these aren't moving like the previous sets did.
I see 3 Wolf Man still on the shelf, I picked up the best MIB one, as the other boxes are slightly indented on the right side as you look on them, as if a weight or something pushed on them. Not crushing, or creasing, the box, just indenting all the rest.
None of the other figures have this, and still sits on shelf unsold.
I too don't care for these other figures in this line.
After my 60s/70s figures costumes, I think I have all that I remember as a kid, and that are the Uni Monsters variety.
The Mutant version ain't one I care for either, I guess that's what it looked like originally, but I didn't even know what it was suppose to be when I first seen it.

At this rate, they'll have more figures available than Funko Pops!

Yeah, I'm glad I avoided this onslaught. I would have probably only bought the first ones anyway, but it's a lot more tempting to get sucked in after you've dipped your toes in the water. NECA certainly enriched their coffers with these things.
I bought none. My wife bought the Jaws kid.
I'm hoping the folks that love these can afford to get the ones they want at the rate they are releasing them.
Being a one-character collector does have its advantages. :)
I may grab one of the Kiss guys. I still hope they do some Marvel Comics characters plus Fonzie, Bionic Woman, Six Million Dollar Man, Evel Knievel, Bigfoot, King Kong 76, JAWS 2, more 1970s stuff.
I guess I've collected all their Uni Monsters Kid figures on these, but with all the new multi film/toon characters being released, I hold out with hope to see my 1st true kid hero...
Popeye!

I was shocked to see Popeye masks in the halloween merch at Walmart this year, so who knows, perhaps he's on a comeback?

I need that martian. I'll probably get kirk and spock also. I have to be picky now. I already have way too many of these.

I'm a big fan of mummies, Ben Cooper and glow in the dark things-- so I guess I'll bite.
