Title: Question for eBay users.
Post by: Mike Scott on July 29, 2023, 08:17:33 PM
If you have bought multiple items from the same seller and they combine shipping, after putting your purchases in your cart, how do you ask the seller for an invoice?

The seller should do it automatically. If the seller does not, Contact Seller.

They say they can't see any way how to do it. I don't think I've ever bought 2 items from the same seller, so I don't know how it's done. I can't test it out without buying something.

I Googled the answer to the problem, but the guy told me it doesn't work. Some people seen able to do it, but most people just pay for each item, individually, and want me to refund the extra shipping.

No problem, but it ends up costing me extra money because eBay charges me a percentage for the shipping paid, even if I give most of it back.

OK, so I called eBay and they said that I'm not paying a fee on any money I refund the customer. So that's good!

However, I still wish people would ask for an invoice, so I don't have to do all that extra paperwork, dealing with 10 separate orders, instead of one combined order.

But now you've switched from asking from the standpoint of a buyer to asking from the standpoint of a seller! So you're saying you don't know how to combine sales into a single invoice?

???

No. I don't know how a buyer asks for an invoice after putting more than one item in his cart. Is it as simple as clicking a link marked "ask for an invoice", or is there more to it? Some of my buyers seem to have a problem figuring it out. I can't investigate it without buying something.

Many times when I've sold multiple items to a single person, Ebay automatically combines all of their items into one order. But, they just add up the individual shipping costs instead of recalculating the combined weight of the items, which results in a "you didn't combine shipping" complaint from the buyer. You can do the foot work yourself by weighing the items together and checking the shipping costs with USPS and add that to your invoice as the shipping cost.

You can get a cheaper price by letting eBay calculate the shipping cost. When you make your label, just put in the actual weight and choose the cheapest method of shipping. Sometimes Priority Mail is actually the cheapest way to go.

You the seller should set out precisely in your description(s) how shipping will be combined for multiple purchases and be up to speed on the procedure.

Hey Mike,
The buyer just needs to add the items to their cart and simply click "request invoice", then you (the seller) can
adjust the shipping cost and send them the invoice. I've dealt with the same scenario, i think people just don't
look hard enough.

That's what I tell them, but they say they don't see it, yet other people don't seem to have any problem. I guess I'll just have to do it the hard way with some people.

I used to go into detail about it, But I can't make them do it. Now I just say, "I will combine shipping", so they know they won't have to pay all of it. I should say that I will only combine if they do it the right way, otherwise they'll have to pay for their laziness.  ;D
