It's tonight's feature on Svengoolie's TV show, a British horror classic from the 1950s.
It's also one of the scariest monsters ever created for a movie >

Let's take a look at some of the masks it inspired:
The earliest known licensed version came along in 1983, actually on my suggestion.
Distortions Unlimited never consulted me on its design, which had the look of a
rush job in the end, but I got a copy anyway >

Whether or not it preceded The Halloween Society's edition is hard to say but The HS
definitely saw more potential in the character >

My timeline is equally vague on these next three although all were created prior to
2000. Joe Dolinich sculpted this one, either on his own or by commission >

A fellow in Connecticut had a couple of sculptors at work on his version.
His collection focuses primarily on characters from the 1950s. For a time,
this was my favorite >

I photographed a rather forlorn-looking CotD at a Chiller Theatre convention
decades ago. The names Warren Disbrow and Ray Hughes came up over the
years in regards to its creation but I can't confirm which (if either) was involved >

A quite cartoonish version shows up on eBay from time to time. Rumor has it pictured
somewhere in Dr Lady's guide book but I don't like it enough to bother looking it up >

In 2014 The Devil's Workshop released their spectacular edition and blew all the others
back to hell. Conjured to order in various colors, their black variety looks the scariest >

Let us know which is your favorite and do post pics of any CotD masks I forgot
to include. If you don't, someone just might slip you the runes!

The Devil's Workshop mask is really nice, but I prefer The Halloween Society mask. Maybe I'd switch if I saw them in person?
THEY'RE ALL SO CUTE! I just wanna give 'em all dog treats! ;D. Love this movie, love these masks!
