The illustrations look kinda wonky but otherwise pretty cool.

How did I miss this post?

That looks pretty cool.  I would have liked different artwork on them, but an interesting idea.

Just got them a few days ago. Was gonna make a big post about it, but found there's already one here.
So here's my review:

I'm really happy with this product. Weird story is, at first I got a bootleg of it, by mistake. Yes, I bought it from Amazon and it came through a seller making cheap bootlegs. The cards were smaller and flimsier, there was no guidebook, and it came in a cheap cardboard sleeve. So I got a refund and was able to order a real one through Barnes and Noble. So be wary of that stuff.

Now the real review. This is really cool. I know a lot of people will be turned off by the fact they couldn't get the actor likenesses but honestly, I love the art enough that I can't be bothered too much by this. And it doesn't really matter as a lot of the cards do not focus on the characters' faces, anyways.

So you got a whole lineup of characters from the basic 8 Universal Monster movies: (Phantom 25, Dracula, Frankenstein, Mummy, Invisible Man, BOF, Wolfman, CFTBL). This includes characters far beyond the monsters though, like Maleva, Christine, Van Helsing, Dr Kemp... They go deep into the characters. Of course, without looking at the guide book, one might get confused at who certain characters are. There's one card featuring a character who I thought was Claude Rains as John Talbot.... It was actually Arthur Homewood. Y'know, who was removed from the Lugosi adaptation of Dracula? So it actually looks more like Michael Gough in "Horror of Dracula". Not exactly a spot on likeness but that seems to be what they were going for. Interesting.

There's also a character from the 2004 Van Helsing (Princess Anna). Don't worry though, that's the only card relating to that movie.

A few times the characters do repeat, but usually not. The Main Arcana, at least, tries to do one character per card. Wolf Man gets three, but to be fair, one is as Talbot, and another is mid transformation.

Even the minor arcana cards have real nice artwork, and it never repeats. Each card has unique art. The four suits are Castles, Candles, Crypts, and Claws. The guidebook explains well what each card represents and the basics of how to tell a fortune using them.

The inside of the box is designed like the inside of Dracula's coffin. Just another nice detail. Honestly, this is a real nice product, all things considered. I know the likenesses aren't there, but the art still manages to make up for it. And it's nice to see all this new original art from the classic monsters. The art is why you buy this.
