If you grew up in the Dayton/Cincinnati area in the 60's you knew who Uncle Al was. He hosted a kids television show that ran for many many years. Sadly he passed away yesterday.

He was said to have been the inspiration for Alan Sues' "Uncle Al the Kiddies' Pal" skits! I was never one of the kidlets ON the show, but watched him when I was little--with his lovely wife, Captain Windy and various puppets and Al playing his accordion and so on being the main entertainment. And the sponsors stay with me--Barq's soft drinks, which they'd pour over ice cream to make "Brown Cows, Red Cows, and Purple Cows"! RIP, Uncle Al--you entertained thousands of little squirts in the greater Cincinnati environs!
Robert, I had no doubt you'd know who Uncle Al was!! ;D

You betcha, Mike! Other sponsors for Uncle Al's show were Mama's brand cookies, and (Joe Busam reminded me) Al Naish Movers! I think I had one of those yellow plastic Al Naish trucks once upon a time!
