:D Hi all!
Had a question for this group.
I am interested in buying some classic universal horror monster posters - vintage/rare first run posters or theater one sheets. Obviously things like Bride of Frankenstein are tens of thousands of dollars (if not more!)
I am curious if anyone has recommendations for less iconic movies from this era, and whether you would trust an eBay listing that doesn't have authentication for the item? Any tips or suggestions lmk!

I would join Heritage Auctions (it's free) and just search titles that you think might have posters that would interest you and check out the prices they have sold for. Reissue posters are cheaper than the originals.

Thanks!!! Ya hah I have been on Heritage :P so that's the best bet generally?

Well, it's one of the best places to see old posters and the prices they sell for.
As far as trusting eBay sellers of vintage items, it's like anything else. Know your subject and pick a trustworthy seller, like someone with a sizeable volume of sales and a high feedback number. Better yet, buy from someone like Heritage.

Ty mr Scott.
I saw a 1954 reissue poster of house of Frankenstein on eBay and wasn't sure how to vet

The poster or the seller?
Check the eBay seller's feedback. If it's less than 100%, read some of the comments to see why. Read th auction description, of course. Does the seller seem well informed on the subject. Look at the photos. Are there close-ups of any defects? Auction houses, like Heritage, you have to go by their reputation and, of course, their photos and descriptions.
One-sheets and larger should have fold lines. LCs were sent (to theaters) flat. Half-Sheets and Inserts were sent rolled. Do you know about the info in the bottom borders?
I don't imagine there is much selling of fake posters. You might find someone thinking they bought an original when it was a reproduction. Might not hurt to get a 2nd opinion before spending big bucks on anything.
Beware of fake one-sheets. Especially posters produced between 1970s-1980s. There are a lot of dealers who sell on eBay, fakes. I've been collecting one-sheet posters, lobby cards and quads for decades and I fell in to a trap several times purchasing fakes.

I was thinking of the old movies, but yeah, they do fake stuff like Star Wars posters, or whatever sells for big bucks!
