Title: Hellraiser (2022)
Post by: BigShadow on October 11, 2022, 07:27:16 PM
Has anyone seen the new Hellraiser movie on Hulu?  I'm a huge fan of the original three movies as well as Clive's books, but I'm not sure about this movie.  I've seen some mixed reviews, but am thinking of giving it a shot.  Was wondering what everyone who watched it thought.

It's nowhere near as good as the original. The storyline isn't the greatest and i was kind of apathetic about the
characters, but the acting was good. I thought the Cenobites were really cool, so if nothing else it's worth watching
for them and the great job RusselFX did with their makeup.

Finally watched it last night. I thought it was horrible.  The story was ok. The Cenobites were small in stature and not very scary, and they were all white and red.  The original cenobites were larger than life, wore black leather, and were scary as hell.  The Puzzle Box lore was cool though.

Haven't finished it but anyone else think it's stupid how just cutting yourself on the box makes the Cenobites go after you? Like, doesn't matter if you opened it or desired to know what it unlocks, you get pricked? You dead meat.

.............Honestly, it just makes them lesser slasher villains even more than any of the other DTV sequels. Feel like there's some recency bias going on here.

I started, but fell asleep.  Not sure if it gets better or not.

It doesn't get better.

My big issues were that I didn't like the look of the cenobites (it looked like they were wearing armor) and the movie committed the cardinal sin of being boring to me. I didn't hate it, and I've seen far worse Hellraiser installments, but it also didn't give me a reason to be interested going forward.

The Cenobites look was definitely different.
