Post by: Muggs on May 08, 2022, 02:55:51 PM
Can somebody tell me where I can find the old Rosan phone number that was listed on the back of one of their cards? Thanks.

I just looked at my set of cards. If there is a phone number,  where does it exist on the card(s)?

It's on the back. MAIN 4-7640. It's one of those old numbers like Klondike 5-1234.

Our number when I was a kid was GENERAL 3-4279 dialed as GE3-4279. I'd try MA4-7640 or MN4-7640 for the Rosan phone number.

I actually missed it myself because I am not used to seeing any phone numbers in that format. however it's on the purple cards. Someone claimed back a few years ago that he dialed the phone number and a strange voice answered the other end he thinks it was an Internet phone which was total bull I think. If you decode the phone number correctly to a 10 digit number it returns to a girl which I will not name in Brooklyn.

You must be some kind of youngster then. Two digit phone numbers were in use in smaller towns as recently as the 1930's. Check out the phone number on this quarter pint milk bottle from some time after 1933 but almost certainly before 1946:

Lindsay was a railroad center at the time and has a population of about 21,000 these days.

There's like zero history of Rosan on the net, but I imagine they went out of business decades ago.
