Sad news, was a Monkee fan as a kid and saw Mike, Mickey and Peter a number of years ago in concert and loved it. Rest In Peace Mike, start jammin with Davy and Peter up there.

They were a fun group. I still have my vintage Monkees LPs. 'Sad to see them drop off one by one.  :(

He was my favorite Monkee. Very talented songwriter. Loved his solo single from 1970, 'Joanne'. He also wrote 'Different Drum' for Linda Rondstat and The Stone Poneys'  He performed as recently as this past October with Mickey Dolenz. RIP Mike and thanks for the music.

R.I.P. Michael Nesmith (30 December 1942 – 10 December 2021). Interesting that he was actually older than Mick Jagger or Keith Richards even though the Monkees weren't introduced to the unsuspecting American public until September 1966. I was in high school and took my rock music very seriously when The Monkees TV show was launched and the Monkees became the heart throbs of pubescent girls across North America. The Monkees therefore became the band I loved to hate. It took me about fifteen years to get over it but with added maturity I let myself appreciate much of the very good music released under their name:
