I just read over at JoeMoes facebook that Robert Quarry has passed away.Don't know any details.RIP Count Yorga.
This is depressing................. :'(
The greats are getting to be a select few, these past few months have really hit the mark with some very important people being lost to us. I had just received his autograph a few months ago when the call went out for his support, he will be missed. Rest in peace Robert, he was the grand-daddy of the hip vampire long before MTV became a coined term.
That's too bad. I really liked him. I hope his final days were peaceful.
Very sad news. I hope Robert Quarry is at peace, his Yorga movies brought great pleasure over the years. May he find eternal happiness and peace, now that he has left us.
I'm very sad to hear this, and I thought Robert Quarry brought his own unique stamp to the vampire genre. I never met him personally but I've always enjoyed his films. Saying a prayer tonight for Robert Quarry's talented spirit.
Saw Count Yorga in the Drive-In as a kid.....loved it!
Rest In Peace, Robert. :'(
Before he was moved to the hospital section in his last months, I spoke to him by phone. We had a nice chat, and he invited me to call back. I never did, sadly.
He was taken advantage of in his final year, but he also heard from many old friends and even more fans.
He'd had to leave behind his vast LP and tape collection. I remember asking him about sending some CD replacements; in particular, a recording of Boris Karloff in an audio production of the Bard's CYMBELINE. (Quarry had done many Shakespearean roles in his past stage career. I said, "Mr. Quarry, do you like Shakespeare?" He replied, deadpan, "Well, he was a LOUSY dancer..."
RIP, sir.
RIP Robert Quarry.
Count Yorga and the Return of Count Yorga are 2 of my favorite vampire movies. Talented, indeed.
I had the pleasure of meeting him. We had an extensive conversation about his varied interests. It's unfortunate, he wanted to attend more shows, but was told most promoters were under the impression he was too-ill to attend. At the time, he was in good shape. His response was "What do they expect? I'm old, but not dead!" Rest in peace.
Sad news. He brought a very unique interpretation to the list of cinematic vampires.
********** ((((((( R.I.P. )))))))))))) ONE OF THE BEST............
I met Robert at a Monster Mania show a few years ago. He was a real gentleman. He counldn't understand the admiration but he said he was glad that he made an impression. RIP.
