SYNOPSIS: #123 features profiles and memories of classic spooky films involving hauntings, including The Uninvited, The Innocents, The Haunting, The Amityville Horror, and Poltergeist; more recent movies such as The Conjuring/Annabelle series; as well as comedies like Hillbillys in a Haunted House and The Time of Their Lives. In addition, we celebrate the 30th anniversary of Scary Monsters, first published in October 1991. Our scary columnists will also provide some Halloween creepiness, and there's much more over 146 fantastic foto-filled pages.
When first "charged up" in the sun (or with bright lights) and then brought into a dark room with lights off, hidden ghostly images will be revealed on the glow-in-the-dark cover art!

They just did a GLOW cover on issue #118.
I think they are doing one for every Halloween issue.
Great cover
Awesome magazine! Dont know how this was under my radar for all these years. Picked up #119 at a BAM store here in York PA. Poured through it, then hopped on the site and
have been ordering back issues every payday. With the sale, I was able to get a ton of issues to start. LOTS of reading to do! Now, time to fill in the missing issues...
Just got #123 yesterday.

I don't know, either. It has been around for 30 years! :)
What other monster movie mags do you read, on a regular basis?
I only read FMOF from my collection for the longest time. Now I read Classic Monsters of the movies. Ive picked up horror mags here and there, but none of them really held my attention enough to read regularly.
Ive heard of Scary Monsters, but I guess never really gave it a chance. Im sure I saw them set up at a Monster Bash about 5-6 years ago.
Anwho, Im hooked. This is just incredible.
May I ask a question to any of the Scary Monster experts out there... Im trying to complete this collection, but a little confused between Scary Monsters and Scary Monster Memories. Are they numbered in series with each other? Example, I cant locate a Scary Monsters #9 or #10 (cant even find a pic of the cover), but I see a Monster Memories #9. Is that the actual 9th issue? Or a seperate entity? Id appreciate anyy knowledge...THANKS!!

"Monster Memories" is the SM yearbook. They have their own numbering system. The first issue was MM #1 and the date (1993, I think). Several issues of MM were also marked as a regular numbered issue of SM.
There were 4 "Summer Special" issues of SM. The first two were marked SM #27 1/2 and SM #50 1/2 (this issue was digest size). The others were SM "Summer Special" #3 and #4. There was also a "Scary Monsters Special" #1 and #2. A few issues of SM had a limited edition sticker on the cover. SM #87 has a variant cover.
There was also an occasionally published title simply known as "Scary". Six issues have been published and they are book size and cost $20.
This website has covers and some info on all kinds of movie mags.

Thank you sir!
One other thing about Monster Memories. Two issues (I think it's #16 and #17) were released as a dbl issue with 2 numbered covers (one on the front and one on the back).
Very cool. Appreciate all the info!
I will definitely need this issue.
Just finished reading this issue and absolutely loved it! Great article by all the contributors. The contributor bios were great to read as well...nice to put a face and background to a name.
