A band that perfectly mixed sleaze, horror and rock and roll... The Cramps.
I'm so glad I got to see them live.
Wow, this one hits me pretty hard.

Really bummed out about this one... :(
RIP
Wow--a total shock... RIP, Lux.
Aw man -- another one gone. Makes me even more glad that I saw them the last time they played First Avenue here in Minneapolis -- one of the best live rock shows I ever witnessed. So long, Lux. My condolences to Ivy....
In shock here... RIP LUX
The first time I saw them, the were playing at this traditional rock club in Dallas in 1980. A year or two earlier they'd been booked into a small sweaty punk club but they cancelled. Anyway, the opening act was a standard rock cover band and about half the crowd were club regulars who wondered where all the weirdos came from and if the headliner that night was gonna do a good job with Freebird and Feel Like Makin' Love. The second guitar player was a girl who came between Bryan Gregory and Kid Congo. Lux strutted out in low slung leather pants and women's shoes, leering and sneering and the beer hippies went crazy trying to boo him off stage. This was an invitation for him to walk across all the tables, kicking everyone's drinkd on them. Things went on like that for a while and it ended in a huge melee out front. What a great night it was....
I take it this wasn't a Manilow cover band then. RIP.
Such a bummer. All the punk rock heroes are going (Joe Strummer, 3 of the Ramones, Lux, etc) and the Rolling Stones are still alive and kicking (not to imply that I have anything against the Stones).
Some hard livin' by the punks... or maybe not hard enough??
This was a tough one for me, too. The Cramps are one of my all-time favorite bands. In the late 70's and early 80's, I took a lot of jeering from my fellow punks for buying Cramps albums instead of DRI or the hardcore band of the week. They were just perfect; oozing rockabilly with a twist of classic horror. My friend Bill and I started a Cramps cover band in the late 80's, and it was some of the most fun I ever had playing music. Well, I'm glad I was able to see them live, and I'm thankful for their contribution to the music-side of my life.
Rest in leather and high heels, Lux.
