Greetings! I have decided to bring back the General Discussion board. I have done so with some trepidation. Previous experiences at the General Discussion board have been unpleasant ones which lead to the board being closed a few years ago. Let's hope history doesn't repeat itself. I know the mods here will do their part in sanitizing the forum from politics and religion. And I respectfully ask that members do their part in moderating themselves from controversial subject matters.
The rules are simple - NO POLITICS, NO RELIGION, NO PORN!
Members who don't comply with the rules will be banned! No pussy-footing around this time. You will be gone!
Respectfully, The General of the UMA.
Are you bringing back all the previously deleted threads too or are they lost for good?
???
Most of the deleted threads were deleted for good reasons (flame wars, politics, etc.). We won't be bringing those back. What specific threads are you referring to?
I have no idea why but I can't see it.
Oh come on. Flame wars were a tiny part of the postings. The threads were all mass deleted (to save bandwidth I suspect). Everything in the Sports, Music, Technology, Polls, etc. forums was deleted. Among these were threads on comic books, pinball machines, Batman toys, Man from UNCLE toys and a James Bama vs. Frank Frazetta vs. Basil Gogos poll.
???

I misunderstood what threads you were referring to. Those threads are still dormant in the archives. I haven't decided how and if they will be coming back. They weren't deleted for bandwidth purposes. They were archived when the decision was made to remove said boards.
Btw, flame wars may have been a tiny part of the postings in your estimation, but they were the main reason for the General Discussion boards eventually being shut down. The headaches were too numerous and wide spread to sort out henceforth the decision to "kill them all" was made.
That was then, and this is now. Hopefully history won't repeat itself.

You should be able to now. I had a permission setting that was inadvertently off.

All of those things can be discussed on the new general discussion board.
At first, I thought I had some sort sixth sense and was able to see beyond the normal forum... Then I saw this thread, explaining it all. Bittersweet. ;D

I decided to bring back two sub-forums of General Discussion. Games, Polls, and Lists and Music forums are now back and active forums. This will conclude the return of any previous forums.
Enjoy!
Me me me me me! La la la la! (I'm getting warmed up for the music section.)
Is there anyway to embed an MP3?
Do board administrators have the capacity/capability to send an email or PM to all lapsed posters informing them of this change? Say members who have posted in the past but have not done so since the start of the year?
???

Mike, I will look into that. I'm more than positive it is possible.

Not easily. Not sure how many would even be interested at this point. It's been a few years.

The first 2 of those years had to do with serious real life issues, but the last 3 or so have been that the dynamics of the board changed for the worse, IMO.
There certainly have been some interesting interactions, mostly with new (and passing) members, since the demise of the gen. discussion boards. I think GD provides the opportunity to get to know people outside of their rabid opinions on green jackets. It helps to appreciate people as people.
