Forget Fantasy Island. Montalban will always be KAHN, to me!

NAKED GUN in '88, WRATH OF KHAN in '82--wonderful funny voiceovers in recent years for kids' animated series--  RAGE OF THE BUCCANEERS (BLACK PIRATE) in '61.  And I just watched him in a long-neglected and very good murder mystery from 1950, MYSTERY STREET, which was the very recognizable grandfather of shows like CSI.  He was a great guy and a dedicated actor.  Rest in peace, sir!

I always liked Ricardo Montalban.  Khan - It was RM's own chest.  Not a phoney.  I just saw a program about him on the biography channel.

For me, I will remember him on TV hawking the Holy Cross Of The Trinity, which has enclosed in the center "an actual rock from the cave that Jesus was born in". With COA. No kidding.

"There are no small actors"... Well, MR, ROARKE'S sidekick proved that statement's falsity.
"Only small parts" ... The Greater Life, Beyond our comprehension, or, Imagining, calls us, all, on, in the Chosen Time. We leave these small parts, for a far Greater One.
... Fare, Well, RICARDO MONTALBAN... Thank you, for your Passionate Sincerity, and, widely Inspirational use, of breath, Heartbeat & GOD-Given Talent; Breathe, only, The LIGHT, of LOVE DIVINE, EVERNOW, and, your Name, changed, to match The JOY, on THE BELOVED'S Imperishable Face!

This one hits pretty hard, as a fan of the Planet of the Apes movies.  No matter what I see him in, His "Armando" character from "Conquest of the Planet of the Apes" comes to mind.  I loved him as Khan from Star Trek too, but Armando he'll always be in my eyes.  At least he can remanence about his roll with Roddy McDowell.  So far 2009 has taken from us a Horror Host, a Catwoman, No.6, and now the kindly circus owner/genetic madman from Conquest and Star Trek.  If this is any indication of how the reat of the year is going to be, it will be a dark year indeed.  Rest in Peace Ricardo "Armando" Montalban, may you find the happiness that your characters brought us.

He will be missed.  He will always be Mr. Roarke to me. I thought he was the classiest guy on tv.
