Jane and I have been in the new house now for about a week and a half, and man, will it take time to really be moved in! We spent all New Year's Eve and day, and the following day, doing the final move, all while it snowed!
But we are happy. Since many of you have my OLD address, here is the NEW one:
Max and Jane

We live on a hill that's part of a ridge with several hill tops (typical Pittsburgh topography), and we've discovered an old cemetery on a steep hilltop just blocks from us. I've posted pics of it here:
http://drunkenseveredhead.blogspot.com/2009/01/snowy-day-in-nearby-graveyard.html (http://drunkenseveredhead.blogspot.com/2009/01/snowy-day-in-nearby-graveyard.html)
Come to visit in warmer weather!
Hmmm sounds like the setting for NOTLD!
Just watch out for that little girl in the basement.. she really is creepy!
Glad to hear you guys are getting settled in. It takes a long time; 3 years and I STILL have a lot of things I want to do to our place.
That cemetery is the perfect meeting place for the first annual UMA Campground Convention. We will build a fire and tell ghost stories at night. We will pass the bottle around while roasting marshmallows and weenies. Then at 12:00 midnight we will offer up an AHI male Creature to appease the monster toys gods. It will burn a brilliant white making pure all those who bow to lord Azrak. Pittsburgh will finally be put on the map. Goodbye Butler, PA. Who needs ya?

Dang, what was I thinking anyways? Mike, thank God your here to do the thinking for me. ;)
Well, I posted a nice long response, but it never showed up. Let's hope this one does.
I like both Terry and Mike's ideas. First, we'll gather at the cemetery and sacrifice a few AHIs (and why not-- there's all that MONEY that's been sacrificed for them), and have the ghosts tell their stories.
Cool thing is, we won't have to offer them our roasted weinies or marshmallows!
BTW, I forgot to mention that this house has a small room with a hidden door-- and it has a ghostly "cold spot" too! (But that's probably because the walls of that room are UNINSULATED!) I'm gonna love that tomorrow, when we drop to below freezing temps!
But this house is nice-- original fancy textured plaster walls from the 40s, brass doorknobs with a skeleton key in each one, dark trim.
Come and see it for yourself when the weather gets warmer!
How bout some pics Bob Villa ..er, I mean Max? Let's see This Old House.
Okay-- I'll post 'em tomorrow. Tonight, Jane and I are taking advantage of the weather still being above zero to go see the acclaimed vampire flick LET THE RIGHT ONE IN. (A title that sounds like it oughtta be a Spike Lee movie!)
Glad the hardship of moving is over for you Max, now you can just relax. Love the neighboring scenery, maybe you can dig up a BODY to reat your weary head on. House comes with it's own ghosts? With cold spots you never know, could be.

Or a horror porn movie ;D I didn't know they had horror porn movies until I saw the Raymond Castile issue of Rue Morgue.
Congrats on your house Max! Can't wait to see the pics!
Hey Max -
Are you anywhere near Latrobe? I was born there.
Ah, beautiful Latrobe, where past monster Bashes have been held!
Yes, I live in north Pittsburgh, so I'm relatively near Latrobe.
I will hop on a plane tomorrow to do the cemetery campout! :-)
Mike C.
If and when you set up a visit, Mike, I'll get the campout gear ready! That's a promise!
Okay, suckers-- you asked for pictures of the new digs--so I'm gonna post 'em!
First, the front of the house (deceptively safe-looking):
Then up the steps (are you sure they're not booby-trapped?):
Alright, you got to the door safely. Whew!
You knock, but no one answers. The front door swings open with a low creak, and you step in. The house seems deserted! You hear a sound, so you look to your left, and you gaze into an empty dining room:
Then you begin to turn--you see that the living room that the front door has opened into is L-shaped:
"What the L?" you think, as you hear a sound to your right--and instantly, before you can turn, you feel a heavy pain and everything disappears into a black void...
MORE PICTURES TO COME!

I didn't know that! Where in Latrobe were they held? I've probably heard of the place.
Your house is so beautiful!
Max,
The house looks terrific, CONGRATULATIONS! May you both enjoy it in good health for many years to come.
Best,
Mike

Dearest MAX & JANE,
... KONG-ratulations, upon your wise investment! Lovely place, to call "HOME"!
... I, too, am, near, LATROBE, as I always keep a Robe, handy, to cover my Lats!
... Hmmm, we appear to be next-crypt neighbours!
... Apparently, you've stumbled, {Hope, you weren't hurt!} upon one, of the Von WOLFSTEIN "Summer Homes"... Yes, your local Graveyard!
... I use it, most often, for Charitable works: i.e., Summer Camp For Wayward ZOMBIES, as well as various enterprises, for other under-privileged CHILDREN OF THE NIGHT!
... Oh, my... just recalling, how, they, all, "sing", around the Bonfire {we use real bones}, Ahhh, "What music they make!" Always brings a tender smile, to my face!
... So, our UMA FANG-MILY is entirely Welcome, to camp, there, at any time, as long as they remember, to wear their summer-weight Cloaks, of Invisibility! This stipulation is, merely, in place, so, as, not, to scare the ghostly population, nor, affright the local mortals!

Wow dude. I love that House. The front looks cool. How about some pictures of the back of it and (of course Being The Fake Wolfman ;D) I need pictures of the Woods . :)
You've got woods ??? And a cemetary next door ??? GRRRR....You lucky stiff !!!! Great looking haunt Max, excellent place to rest your bones.
Thanks, everyone, for all the cool and kind comments!
The inspector I hired to look at the house (before making an offer) told me the that the weirdest thing he'd ever seen was this:
He was inspecting one house with a potential buyer 5 years ago, and detected a crawl space in an unusual part of the house--and it had an access panel that was behind some things. He moved the stuff, looked inside, and found--a dead man! The corpse had been there 40 years, and he was largely mummified, with his clothes mostly intact. The owner of the house, an old lady, was not there at the time of the inspection, but she'd killed the man--her husband--and reported him missing.
Needless to say, the inspector reported this (he said he didn't have to), and the woman was eventually charged. The prospective buyer did not buy the house because of the murder and the dead body. (Hell, I'd had the ol' stiff glassed in right where he was, and shown him off to guests!)
Max,
The house looks great. I'm looking forward to seeing more pics.
It's funny, when we bought our house, I asked our home inspector the same thing. He said that he had discovered in a big old house's basement behind some wood a family crypt. I guess it was like a mausoleum with openings into a wall. The only neat thing we found was an old safe with nothing inside. No monster toys in the attic either. Drat!
Rob
Very handsome looking house, Max. Congrats to you and the missus!
The kind comments that keep coming sure are nice. But how do I reward you? by bothering you with even MORE pics!
When last YOU were looking at my house, you lost consciousness. Now you wake up to find yourself in a basement:
You sense that someone else is there--a feminine presence--but you see no one. You beat a hasty retreat up the old stairs in fear, which groan. Coming out of (de)basement, you see the back yard through the living room windows that are at the back of the house:
It has snowed while you were asleep! And it is getting dark soon! Are you in danger?
You stomp like Frankenstein upstairs to the 2nd floor, hoping to make someone acknowledge your presence, someone harmless, and that that will make you feel reassured. You see a small bedroom to the left, when you reach at the top:
For some reason you can't make yourself open the closed cabinet you see in the room! (What--or WHO--is inside it?!) But you notice that it has been rolled away to reveal a hidden room:
You want out of that room--it has a strange cold spot! You go to the room on the other side of the small bedroom, the bathroom:
You get inside, and draw the shower curtain. (And you didn't know could draw!) Why do you that? (It ain't bath day!) Who knows? But then, YOU SEE:
Aaaaaaiiieee!!
But when you open the curtain, no one's there...
So you go downstairs to the room you first went into, the dining room. It connects to the kitchen. When you look into the kitchen, you finally see someone!:
She turns around, and says, "Hunh! Thought I heard a sound! But no one's there!"
YOU SUDDENLY REALIZE THAT SHE SEES THIS:
NOTHING! YOU are the one who isn't there! YOU are up in the cabinet, moldering away! You're dead--and doomed to haunt Casa Cabeza forever! AAAAIIIEEE!

This has been a tour of my house, with actual house photos, and a mostly accurate description of a tour of the place!
The strangest thing I found in my 1929 house, in a wall in the basement.....a small whiskey bottle (pocket sized) with the skeleton of a mouse in it.....I have visions of some creepy carpenter years ago catching the mouse and shoving it into the bottle......there is definitely something Alienesque about it.....
I had wanted to get the PYSCHO shower curtain, but we found a classic movie still one we liked so got that.
I am just trying to find which room in your house that i wish to visit and haunt now... ;D
Hey guys,
Congrats on the house. LOOKS GREAT!
Can't wait to see it filled with monsters!
I love the old-style skeleton key in the kitchen door, and the wood accents. My DREAM is to have a BASEMENT that I can refinish, but alas I live in Florida, where basements would leave you knee-deep in salt water.
COOL house!! Love it!!
Dear Brother, DAN,
... So soon, after living, under the BREWSTER Roof, I half-expected you, to "slip in" the observation, that, the basement reminded you, of THE PANAMA CANAL!
... What would poor MR. SPINALZO think!
... Boy, MAX, trying to take a shower, at your place, is MURDER!
... Mayhap, a nice, hot, BLOOD-BATH, instead?!
EXANIMO EVERNOW,

Max, may you and your good lady make many happy and monstrous memories in your new home.
Don't forget to post photos when you get the new home monsterfied !
You can count on that!
Having in our first guest in tonight, to see horror movies. Then, when it's time for them to go, I'll show one of MY comedy favorites, THE NAKED MONSTER. With our own Dan Roebuck!

And that does the trick, huh?
It's a cheapie among cheapies! Star Kenneth Tobey hated it!
But I say it is an amazing achievement, created through sheer determination and talent, and has some of the funniest (and most affectionate) gags in monster film history! AND Forry's best cameo!
Dear Mahster Max and Mistress Jane, may your new "Castle" be ever blessed.
(...and, of course, "-of Frankenstein.")
Bestest,
-Craig
Love it Max.I hope you and Jane have a wonderful time there.
Jane and I had our first guest in today, a young co-worker named Meg who knew of my reputation for a love of all things horror. She asked for film recommendations. Instead I invited her over to watch movies with us, and she picked Bava's KILL, BABY, KILL , and the Japanese film JUON 2. (Both are about ghost children that bring horrible death.)
We also watched an episode of ONE STEP BEYOND called "The Clown"--because she has a clown phobia! She went home with more horror films on loan.
Meg enjoyed looking at some of my monster toys and collectables that are unpacked, too, which delighted me.
"watched an episode of ONE STEP BEYOND"
GREAT little show, isn't it? (Just watched a really good ep., JUSTICE, last night with The Wife.)
IF ONLY we'd get a good, licensed, un-butchered release!
Great weekend,
-Craig
"The Wife", eh? No name? Like Zacherley's "My Dear"? (Who actually had a practically secret name of Isobel.) Or like H. Rider Haggard's "She Who Must Be Obeyed?"
How about the British tv show Minder where George Cole's character ,Arthur refers to his wife
as" 'er indoors "
