That rumor ended fast. Its the usual bullcrap that seems to happen every other eyar regarding this lost film. Grrrrrrrrrr..... >:( >:( >:( >:( >:(
At this point, I almost hope they don't find the film. The lore behind it is probably more impressive than the film (which could be a major letdown). I'll settle for the legend.

I hope no one ever finds any kind of critter that people decide must be a "real" Bigfoot.
The Loch Ness Monster is too cool a legend to want to ever be put on display at Marine World.
(But, I
would like to see the complete "London After Midnight" film.)
Why did they put those fake "rain scratches" over a series of still pictures? Just to annoy people?
The real story: http://monsterkidclassichorrorforum.yuku.com/topic/65965/LONDON-AFTER-MIDNIGHT-frame-grabs-No-seriously?page=1#.WKTvryMrInE (http://monsterkidclassichorrorforum.yuku.com/topic/65965/LONDON-AFTER-MIDNIGHT-frame-grabs-No-seriously?page=1#.WKTvryMrInE)
While I've no doubt that LAM isn't the classic I've imagined it to be, my enthusiasm will never wain. I would pay a good price to see it, let alone own a copy, & I can't help feeling the smallest glimmer of hope every time this--albeit annoying--rumor mill rears it's head.

Yep. I like a little mystery in my world!
I'm of two minds on this matter. Would I like to see London After Midnight? Absolutely. Do I think that it will live up to the expectations time has built up for it? Most likely not. Hell, I'd even settle for seeing Mark of the Vampire at this point as a nice middle ground. While it's a shame to have any work of art lost, time may have built it too far up for us.
>Hell, I'd even settle for seeing Mark of the Vampire at this point as a nice middle ground.<
???
Mike, that film is not hard to see.
I saw a comment from a person on the Chaney Facebook Fan Page who helped to restore these stills.
Don't dismiss these still's as "bull" and such. Yes, I know it is such a major let down but still. These stills they found are still important. Even if no still actually includes the "Vampire" character.

I haven't been able to find it for any kind of reasonable price and it's not available for digital rental on any platform I'm familiar with as far as I know. I get get it in a multi-pack on Amazon for $60 or what looks to be a bootleg on eBay for under $10.

You can get the whole set very cheaply. Here's an eBay link: http://www.ebay.com/itm/HOLLYWOOD-LEGENDS-OF-HORROR-HOLLYWOOD-LEGENDS-OF-HORROR-COLLECTION-3-DVD-NEW-/401254194216?hash=item5d6c9d1c28:g:sYEAAOSw5cNYbQGj (http://www.ebay.com/itm/HOLLYWOOD-LEGENDS-OF-HORROR-HOLLYWOOD-LEGENDS-OF-HORROR-COLLECTION-3-DVD-NEW-/401254194216?hash=item5d6c9d1c28:g:sYEAAOSw5cNYbQGj)

It's a fun horror flick with an ending that attempted to be clever but I think it failed. Enjoy the movie and ignore the lame "reveal" at the end. ;)

The ending of "London After Midnight" I understand is pretty much the same as "Mark of the Vampire", except for the Vampire and the Detective not being the same person. I consider it like a Scooby Do ending, because MGM was not willing to do a film that was Supernatural. Even in "The Wizard of Oz", they decided Dorothy's trip to Oz, was a delusion caused by her being knocked out. I would love to see "London After Midnight" if it ever surfaces, but a lot of people are going to be disappointed when they actually see the movie.
I wouldn't be disappointed. See---I learned my lesson early on. With This island Earth. I had only seen the Metaluna Mutant in Famous Monsters Magazine. Never seen the film. My dad built it up, FM built it up....and my young mind raced with ideas of a Mars Attacks Topps card style assault on Earth by a horde of mutants. Needless to say....that isn't what I got when it finally showed on late night tv.
My dad also did this to me with Island of Lost Souls and the Karloff Mummy.
When Karloff's Ghoul came around...I loved it. Even though it had been praised to the heavens by FM and those who had seen it , I went in pessimistic when the vhs from the print of the film in Prague was discovered. I was pleased despite my pessimism. My dad hated Psycho. Wouldn't let me watch it. I had to sneak and view it in the early am on cable tv while waiting on the school bus. I believe everyone here knows how I feel about that particular masterpiece.
So if London is ever found, the sheer joy of seeing Chaney move about in the Vampire make up is all I will be watching it for. Who in the world could be disappointed in that? Not me,fellas.

Why did you think FM was holding back all those great stills that showed all those great scenes that you imagined?

Listen, Honeylumps, I would love to see it too, but don't have high expectations. You are absolutely right, just watching Chaney in full gear walking around is enough. Forry said the exact thing to a group of us who were admiring his Chaney make-up kit. He said that Chaney's walk was very unique in the film. Let's just say, I'll buy the BluRays, Silky Boy

Thats just it, Mike. Forry had still after still of Mutant. He even made the cover if I am not mistaken. He did not show me still after still of people talking endlessly about boring nonsensical drivel. he showed me monsters. So I imagined monsters a plenty and got.....a glorified cameo form a couple that were quite easily dispatched, lol.

Never appeared on the cover of Warren's FM (or Spacemen).

Thanks for the link, Anton. I watched it over the weekend. It feels good finally being able to check that box.
only thing that bothers me about Mark of the Vampire is the amount of times an image of Bela in that is used as "Dracula"
I mean, it wouldn't even bug me that bad if it wasn't for the blood on the side of his head that clearly shows he's not Dracula

Lugosi in Return of the Vampire has also been misrepresented as Dracula more than once. I actually love that movie, so it doesn't really bother me.

just watched it last night
I like em both
Return of the Vampire would bother me less to see it mislabeled as "Dracula" because he for all intents and purposes IS Dracula
