I couldn't become a fan of this.
I hate the too-quick collection editing cuts. And the host with the glasses has all the exaggerated vocal mannerisms and hand gestures of a swap meet Veg-O-matic huckster.
It would have been more interesting to me to have the camera linger a bit over the collections. But I realize these shows are intended for a more general audience. It would also be nice to have a soft-spoken host who asks more questions. These shows could delve a little deeper and impart information as well as entertain. To that end, they should stick to just one collection per show, unless the collections are very small.
Still, there are some nice flitting images of displays. One might freeze-frame and copy them for computer wallpaper.
Just my thoughts. I'm sure many will disagree.
I missed this thread, and my guess is, the show has never continued.
Producers always try to over-dramatize these shows to make them "entertaining" for everyone. They should stuff the drama and just focus on the collectibles- history, current values, scarcity, where to purchase it, etc. Video coverage from real conventions would be nice as well. NOT that poorly dramatized crap, but real video of dealers displays, deals being made, interviews with dealers and collectors, and items from private collections. It should be done documentary style with market reports.
All it would take is someone knowledgeable in the hobby with a video camera who could travel to cover events and collections, and then edit it into an entertaining and informative show. It wouldn't be difficult or expensive if done right.
I know that shows like American Pickers and Pawn Stars are popular with the melodramatic shenanigans, but I don't collect the wide range of things featured on those shows so the silliness doesn't detract that much for me. For the things I do collect, monster related items and comic books, I just want the coverage of the collectibles and NOT some geeky soap opera with too little coverage of what I'm actually interested in- the stuff.
