A young man my daughter graduated with and was very close to just passed away this week. His name is Michael and he was 20 years old, and battled cystic fibrosis those 20 years. His mother went to live with him in a hospital in St Louis, and his dad and siblings stayed home to hold down the fort, but made visitations whenever they could. His mom would post weekly updates, and we watched his battle with the disease for the last year. He was without a doubt the bravest person I ever knew.
He played football and baseball in high school with the disease, and has a scholarship named in his honor due to his determination to lead as normal a life as he possibly could. He constantly amazed the doctors with his progress, and much prayer was offered up on his behalf. He spent his final days sedated, just to let the machine breathe for him. When he fought the sedation they paralyzed him.
In the end, God decided to call him home. I have no doubt he is right now doing laps in heaven, breathing in God's wonderful air.
We all miss him, but will see him again some day.
Thanks,
Mike
Sorry to hear of your loss Mike. It's such a shame when it's someone so young.
