Ok, so this may not be monster-related but if anyone here lives/lived in the San Francisco/San Jose area in the 1980's and watched KTEH...maybe you can help my memory about a program that was aired in between shows...it was in about 5 minute segments and was about the history of silent film. The host was a gentleman who wore a dark suit, introduced the theme of that segment...we saw "The Kiss", Edweard Muybridges' running horse...oh and the scandalous dance "Hoochie koochie", etc. Does ANYone recollect the name of this program? The into had a player piano music and I can sing it but sure don't recollect the name of the show. I think I used to see it after watching Dr. Who or Eastenders in the early evening.
I don't know what they call the "time filler" programs like this. Anyway, I'd appreciate any info. It is diffy to find just the right keywords for Google and nothing crops up on YouTube.

MH, a man named Paul Killiam used to package a lot of Silent stuff like that, and PBS picked a lot of it up. Is this your man?

Hi Wich 2,
No. The segments were current. Thank you for trying though.
I saw the episodes in the 1980s so they would be from that time period. The gentleman had dark features, goatee, glasses and I think his hair was in a short ponytail in back. He wore a dark suit (as mentioned before) and was always seated.
One of the musical pieces played when showing a snippet of a silent film was Rachmaninoff's Prelude in G minor. For example it may be a segment of "The Great Train Robbery" and that piece would be used.
It's not "Hollywood : a celebration of the American Silent Film. It was probably locally made in the San Jose, CA area and low budget. Oh, well...maybe I will remember the title some day.

If you're still in that area, try calling the PBS station and see if they can help you.
