Granted---I hated the design of the Monster in van helsing....and most of the movie is a CGI laden monstrosity. But the dude who played the monster wasn't bad in the role. The same can't be said of Dracula and the Wolfman. The Wolfman was terrible in it, and Dracula was a bore.

Frankenstein and Hugh Jackman were the only redeeming qualities. Kate Beckinsale was nice to look at, but really didnt help the film along. The vampire brides werent too bad. The SNL skit was poking way too much fun at the generations past (like me and ...most of us), and our monsters. Besides it wasn't funny. So--humbug. ;) >:(

Yes, but at least Dracula looked good. Monster's bolts weren't lined up properly, but the headpiece was good, though.

I'm surprised no one mentioned that Frankie's arm has no make-up on it when he's pointing. This skit doesn't really bother me. It's Saturday Night Live, making fun of things is what they do. I don't look at it as mocking the monsters or degrading them. I think it's pretty amazing that after 84 years these characters are still in the public mind. SNL has poked fun at everything from monsters to super heroes and I'm cool with it.

Actually, I noticed that about the arms. Yes, the make-up ended at the wrists. Considering they do it live, the make-up has to be applied super-fast, yet still look good. I was more bothered by the uneven neck electrodes. The arm falling off was done pretty well, though.

Definitely not distasteful or disrespectful to the Monsters imo.  I enjoyed it, although I thought it could have been a lot funnier.  It just needed more energy methinks.  Bring in the lightning, Ygor!

I wonder how much the SNL writers dreaded comparisons to certain ensembles doing witch accusations?  I'm surprised Weird Beard didn't mention that it was getting better...

They had something there, but underachieved.  I still enjoy any reference to the classic monsters, no matter how sloppy.  It warms my heart to see 5, 6, 7 year old  kids in elementary school Halloween Parades dressed as a Bela Lugosi Count.
