Title: Uma Thurman, Fall Out Boy and The Munsters
Post by: aura of foreboding on March 11, 2015, 09:52:30 PM
A familiar musical piece is now playing on a radio station near you...

I heard this while driving yesterday.  I was really shocked when that theme came on a mainstream radio station.  It's interesting that Fall Out Boy chose to sample this composition.  What are your thoughts?

I guess they wanted to include a good piece of music in their recording. For me, it actually makes the song interesting to listen to. But is it a tribute or a bit of post-post-modern irony? Do they even know anymore?

The Munsters theme is the only good part of the song.

Fall Out Boy are huge & can definitely keep a little bit of the Munsters alive in popular culture. That said, the song sucks (aside from the Munsters' sample).

Anything with Brian Setzer is better.

I like this song just for the balls it took to include a 50 year old TV theme. The Munsters theme elevates a mediocre rock song? I fully expect some other band to use the Addams Family theme next. Followed by Hawaii 5-0 and ending with The A-Team theme, the exercise runs out of steam until another ear worm worthy theme pops up. Seinfeld bass line anyone?

I liked fallout boy when they first came out...they used to be punk rock....idk what the hell this is...some type of glitzy pansy pop trash.

I think the use of the munsters theme sounds out of place in the song, why do people have to mess with things? why cant they just leave them alone?

Fallout Boy means Youtube covers...

This one is pretty spectacular, and you can hear the heavy incorporation of The Munsters theme in the eerie melody.

And I thought this guy did a pretty "epic" job of it on key board, especially The Munsters theme.

I agree 100%, not a Fallout Boy fan at all.
