Hey guys and gals..
Here is a idea for a little holiday fun..
Does anyone want to take part in a monster XMas grab bag ? I'm sure we all an a little extra something we can throw in the gift bag . Maybe an extra Monster item ? a copy of some rare CD or DVD ? Autographed photo of Dan ? Autographed comic by me ? Art by ? A T shirt ? Something fun ?
It might be fun , anyone interested ?
Terry .. How would we work something like this ? Everyone who wants to join in puts there name in here and maybe you pull the names on XMas eve and email the names of the ones we get to us along with their address ? and we send them the gift the week between XMas and New Years ?
Maybe we can even post what we are putting in here to drum up interest ? and also that way everyone gets to see what they will get on XMas day .
It might be great monster kid fun.. What do you think ?
Best..
Tom
I'm in...great idea!

BTW, in January we start THE LOST SKELETON RETURNS, AGAIN!
Then I think later in the year we do a CRAZY funny OLD DARK HOUSE send up.
BUT for this I'll send one of these puppies

plus some other loot.
Wow. . now I want one of everything ! ;D

Okay, here is how I think this should work. As Tom has mentioned, everyone who is contributing to the Xmas pot here will have their name placed into a bowl. There will be another bowl with the exact same names placed in it. When the Xmas Grab Bag promotion comes to an official close (December 24, 2007 11:59 PM CST), I will then pull a name from each bowl. Those two names will correspond with the exchanging of gifts. Each selected member will send their gifts to one another. This will continue until all names have been pulled from both bowls. Not to worry - if we end up with an odd number of name tickets .. I will rectify that by adding additional gifts to the grab bag. Nobody will be left out. BUT you must contribute a gift to receive one. That is the requirement here!
This is shaping up to be great fun! Let's keep it rollin'! Spread the word around the various threads, and I will be sure to post an announcement over at our Announcements board too!
I'm in! I'll find a goodie(s) and report back tomorrow!
Cool.. I knew Terry was up to the task to playing Santa in our grab bag ! ;D
Thanks chief !
Best..
Tom
I will contribute an X-One MIB Creature Waterglobe, or if you already have one, plan B is Disney Sounds of Haunted House LP and Frankenstein Jumbo Pen.

Very neat idea! I'll throw in this old drive-in herald. It's not exactly mint, but three of the 4 ads are for Karloff films, so maybe it'd be of interest to someone.

And I loved The Lost Skeleton Of Cadavra! I actually name my fantasy hockey team "The Lost Skeletons"! Am I to understand there's a new one coming out???
Yep :) here is the press release..
Lost Skeleton Returns ... Again !
The Lost Skeleton of Cadavra was one of those cult movies so tailored to a particular cross section of the cult movie audience that you either really dug it or found it to be a bore. Filmmaker Larry Blamaire's loving homage/parody of 1950's sci-fi monster movies about rigid scientists, obtuse aliens, a lovelorn monster, and a diabolical skeleton plotting to conquer the world is about to get sequalized in The Lost Skeleton Returns Again.
Blamaire contacted Fangoria the other day to inform them that he's currently in preproduction of a sequel to the 2001 flick that looks to pick up where the last one left off. According to Blamaire, the plot will go a little something like this:
"Dr. Paul Armstrong, missing in the jungle for two years and now a bitter alcoholic because science let him down, is needed by the government to help find a powerful new rock, Jerranium 90. His loyal wife Betty knows he'll probably come home when he's ready, but doesn't hesitate to join the expedition.
Also along is Peter Fleming, twin of the late Dr. Roger Fleming, trying to restore the family name, who finds among the stuff he inherited from his brother a skull that begins to take him over. Seems the only thing that will restore the Lost Skeleton's body is the legendary 'Dalp of Annacrabb,' which just happens to be made of ...Jerranium 90.
And so, led by Jungle Brad—twin brother of the late Ranger Brad, the expedition is soon underway, encountering characters old and new as they seek to obtain the powerful rock in the only place it can be found: the dreaded "Valley of the Monsters." Hot on their trail are villains who want the same thing, and will stop at nothing until they get the same thing."
Shooting is set to begin in and around the Los Angeles area something in January. Presumably the cast of the original will also be returns when The Lost Skeleton Returns Again. Expect more details shortly.
Meanwhile, Blamaire's Trail of the Screaming Forehead, his Lost Skeleton follow-up poking fun at 1960's sci-fi flicks with a plot about creeping alien foreheads, is still making the festival rounds. You can check out more about it at the official Screaming Forhead website.
I'm in...I went through the boxes. I'll throw in two Gold Key Boris Karloff comics and three DC Witching Hours, plus a Marvel 50-page Dracula! These are all 70's issues and very charming and gruesome.
There is nothing better than the Boris Karloff comics...I long for those days when these were CURRENT and to be found in most any store. Yep, you'd find them pretty much anywhere.

Something seems...odd about this! Wouldn't this cause some people to give gifts to themselves? I would be confused if I had to mail a gift to myself.
Great idea! I'll put in a Canadian Fay Wray postage stamp set in a glass frame. (photo later)

What I meant was, would it possibly be simpler to have one bowl and draw pairs of names, and those pairs of people would exchange with each other? I did one that way over at another board and it seemed to work all right.

That makes sense Rod. I suppose it would be easier. Yes, that's what we'll do. Thanks for making things even simpler. :)
Sure, happy to help out. This other gift exchange I mention was done on one of the Halloween message boards, and people came up with some really fun, weird Halloween stuff.
I'll jump in -- I'll toss in castings of my 1/8 scale Johnny Eck and Angelo Rositto sculpts.

Whoa Terry whoever you get is one lucky guy!
Those sculpts are amazing, do you sell them?
Not selling them quite yet. Don't have the time to deal with it for the moment -- but will eventually be selling castings of all my carnival characters -- and sculpting more.

I'm in. I have this cool Wolfman mask, circa 1960's. Ben Cooper I believe, but the experts could correct me if I'm wrong.

Mike
I had a Ben Cooper werewolf in the early 70's, it looked more or less like "I Was A Teenage Werewolf"...this mask of yours sounds neat!
Whoops, no, wait, I was confused there...it was a rubber mask, a Topstone. Anyone have one of these old things?
I'll also throw in a Creature Jiggler and a Small Creature CVS doll.
BK
2 more days to go.. anyone else ?
Best..
Tom
One more day ! Don't miss out on the XMas fun !
I'll throw in a couple of autographed photos of horror actors.Just let me know where to send them??
This is kinda cool!
I put a description of my stuff up in my previous post, thought I would leave the specific issues a mystery, but I'll gladly post photos of the comic books I mentioned if anyone wants to see them.
I'm in! For sure I'll kick in a full-size repro one sheet of BOTH German Robles "vampiro" films!
My grab bag shall remain a mystery...but a 60's monster kid should enjoy it. Heck, any monster kid should enjoy it!
I'll put in a pressbook-- a REALART Re-Release of INVISIBLE RAY, in super condition.

Wow, now I feel like I need to offer something more impressive than jigglers.
hey I want in, too! (If it's not too late.) terry, if you want to just count us as one, that's cool. But I kept thinking, I'm a member too!
So I don't know if I'm being greedy or not. But I can give a set of jigglers, a deck of Movie Monsters cards and something else. I'll have to go through some boxes, but will find something good. (If I'm put in the bowl.)
Have the names been drawn yet?? I haven't seen anything here stateing so???
WE are all waiting with bated breath Terry :)
Best..
Tom
Did I miss something? Its now the evening of the 26th and I still don't see anything about what happened with the grabbag? Is it my ISP or hasn't anything been posted yet???
I don't think anyone has missed anything. I think this will take place this week, between Christmas and New Years. When the holiday craziness dies down, Terry will pull names and notify us where to send our gifts. Should be a lot of fun!
Oh,ok thanks ;D
I think Terry has had his hands full trying to fix this IE problem. Sounds like it's been taken care of, so we'll probably hear something soon about the grab bag.
I'll be throwing in a recent Frankenstein lunchbox and thermos set, and maybe one or two other goodies.

Season's greetings everyone! Finally, I'm back on the air here! As Raymond has already noted, I've been distracted during the past week with the technical snafu that we had here with Internet Explorer. Now that it's finally been corrected, I have a ton of catching up here to do !
Okay .. the Christmas grab bag program in now officially closed. Later tonight I will be pulling the names out of the fishbowl and matching up the gift exchanges. After that has been done, I will post the match-ups here at this thread. From that point on the two parties should make contact with one another and proceed with the gift exchanges.
Thanks to everyone here who participated in this fun thread. And a special thanks to Tom Smith for starting all this fun!
To be continued later tonight ..
Aha...each person can see who they got matched up with, and then we can Private Message or email the other person to send the contact information. That's perfect!
Exciting grab bag fun!
Cool ! Thanks Terry !

Cool, looks like some great match-ups!
Yes, the posting part was fun all by itself...every gift in the gift exchange sounds neat. I just found 2 eight-by-ten promo flyers from my convention days...one for E.T. and one for An American Werewolf In London. Those'll go in the box too, just to round things out.

I have sent several notices to my gift exchange partner requesting an address but I get no response back? Any suggestions?
You got Jane , I'm sure she will contact you soon or Max will. They are frequent posters.
Ok,thanks. :)
Paul calling Minion!
Please send me your address to get your monster present! Perhaps you are out of town for the Holidays. Well, get back here young man, Christmas isn't over for you yet. Hurry because the Creature Waterglobe is starting to hatch baby tad-creech-poles. Soon they will be swimming around looking for tiny swimming ladies and will be harder to mail. Orientation arrows are a must!
Paul
Hello! I am here! LOL! Replied to your message!
I don't believe in wasteing time so I mailed out my part of the grab bag this afternoon. This way
the person has all of 2008 to enjoy it ;D
I will get my box out Wednesday.
It's in the mail, I was going in the direction of the post office this morning so I just dropped it off.
Man, I missed the P.O. today! They closed at 3pm and I didn't even think about the holiday. I was like 20 minutes late. Wednesday looks like the soonest I can get it out - but it's worth the wait! ;D
Hey, Scary Terry! Got the pkg mailed out today, with some o' this and some 'o that! Watch the skies! Watch the skies! (well, the mail box, anyhow)
A some o' this and a some o' that, yes. My package is simple, and a little like a tomato sauce for your pasta, a pinch o' this, a pinch o' that.
I did go to the post office, but it closed at 1 p.m. and I didn't get off work until about 1:30 p.m. I could have used the self-serve thing and thrown the box down the chute, but I'd rather take it to the counter.
I wanted to say, this whole thing is exciting...it was exciting watching people post the stuff they were throwing in. A different kind of Christmas grab bag, that's for sure. Why, they're horrors of a different color.
Rod. Your package is going out in tomorrow's mail. Maybe have it by Thursday?
Something has come for Jane and I; we won't be able to mail until tomorrow.
And here's a public apology to Bobby...
This holiday began with my Ma-in-law's passing, included a trip to Ohio, and ended with a virus for us both!
We're trying to get back on track...
Some stuff IS accumulating, and WILL go out as a New Year's present soon!
Best,
-Craig W.
Shannon I added a suprise extra item to your package and I'll be sending out in the AM
Best..

fmofmpls's monster soaky just arrived and it's gorgeous! I looked up the info on this Dracula soaky and found that it was only produced as a prototype. Wow! Hopefully my box of goodies has arrived or will soon arrive. Thanks!!

Richard and I exchanged gifts all went well. May I say he is a master. I got an extra and also sent him some extra goodies for being an extra good Monster kid this year. He Makes the best Monster items. I am very proud to Have Olsen Monster goodness in the Wolfman's Layer. Thanks again. HHW
I have got to chime in here and second the kudos to Richard Olsen. From his great graphics work for the UMA Toy Tour to his amazingly inventive and flawless customs (did I mention his buttons?), Richard is a gifted monster creator. We are all lucky to have him as a member of the group, and as a monster pal.
I believe Richard is also one of the great filmmakers on the Monster Kid Home Movies disc, right?
Had a great time opening my package and discovering all the unexpected extra goodies inside. Thank you Robert -- a million times over. What a wonderful way to make a Merry Christmas a SCARY Christmas! let's do this again next year....!

HHW went to the trouble of offering a large assortment of gifts for me to select from (in case there were things in his gifting that I already had). He went through his "extras" boxes and sent pics of all sorts of items. It was like opening up a Christmas catalog and "makin' my wish list"! ANYWAY, I selected a number of things (for him to select a couple of gifts from) NEVER EXPECTING that ol' Santa-HHW would send EVERYTHING I asked for! But he did! THANK YOU, HH!!!
I decided that I needed to include something else in MY gifting to make up for his generosity...so I added a Wolf Man Magnet Set to the puzzle I was sending. I felt that, since HH is the Wolf Man, he needs to have the magnet set in his collection.
My thanks to Tom Smith for suggesting this fun X-Mas exchange! I hope we all can do this again!
Thanks again, HHW, for the kind words...AND the gifts!!!

Hoo, boy~THANK YOU guys!...but, great filmaker? Moi???!
Ahem...
I WAS LUCKY to be included on Joe Busam's "Monster Kid Home Movies" DVD! It was a "right place at the right time" sort of thing. To be included with so many famous well known folk was such an honor and privilege for me! MANY kids made 8mm home movies in the past. I was lucky to still have my films only because my mother kept them all those years. I made 2 or 3 other 8mm films in that time period with my friend Bobby (he was the Frankenstein monster). Bobby's mother kept those films for a time but wound up tossing them out in the 70s so they are lost.
My films on the DVD are crude at best. But my hope is that they show the true spirit and feeling of WHAT WE ALL FELT when our interest in monsters was younger... when, in mind and body, we really were monster kids
Best,
Richard
A quick piece of trivia from the DVD which may be known...
The Marx Frankenstein robot running the projector at the end credits on the DVD...is the SAME one I am "running" in the opening sequence of my 1963 Frankenstein/Wolf Man film. And the projector is my mother's original DeJur projector that we always viewed our home movies on (And the same one I used to show my films with at The Monster Bash in Pennsylvania).
Older, slower, and beat-up like me...they have survived.
I got your present today Shannon ;D
Boy those Killer Panda toys are so cool ! I never saw them before ..so cool!:)
Also thanks for the Jiggler Bride and Creature ! I never could find a Bride now my collection is complete.

Message to Minion - "The Eagle has Landed" - I finally mailed your present today! I propose we create a town square with a Hunchback whipping wheel, a stockade and a raaaack. For my crime of being so late with your present I voluntarily place myself in the stockade for ridicule and scorn. As you all walk past on your daily business, feel free to throw tomatoes, stale bread or used women's socks at my face. I deserve it, and I will remain here until someone in the group takes pity and releases me. Otherwise I will become the forgotten prisoner. And nobody will feed my tarantula. Anyway Minion I hope you like it and Merry Christmas! Tom thanks for starting this tradition.

Excellent! Glad you didn't have the KP monsters. I sell them in the store but had run out over Christmas. Dark Horse distributes them in the States, both as three packs (like the one I sent you) and as individually packed characters (you CAN see which ones you're getting). Besides the Frank, Bride and Mummy, there are also a Nosferatu, Invisible Man, and the Vampire from London after Midnight. I've been told they want to do a second series, and we've pushed them, so who knows...
Excellent on the Bride, and everyone needs more Creature in their life!
Best,
Shannon

Okay, so this was great. Andy and I exchanged and I can tell you all it was a wonderful package.
No other monster stuff this year, so I was thrilled!!
Do we tak epics? how do we shar eit? DO we keep it private?
I think we should take some pics! I was also blown away by Dan's awesome gifts. One item in particular really brought back memories.
When I was a kid, I got a tube of Topstone "Play Blood". For whatever reason, this tube of play blood was my favorite thing for months after. The graphics on the package were really cool, so I kept the package and I used the blood VERY sparingly; only the best make-up jobs or deadliest monster figure battles got a dab of it. Eventually it was used up and the item discarded, and it was one of those things that lived silently in the back of my mind until seeing it again awakened all those great memories. This is exactly the reason why I collect monster toys in the first place, and I figured I'd seen 'em all and re-lived all the fun. Man, I can't even tell you how special that silly tube of blood was to me; or how special it was to re-remember all those good times thanks to a very special Christmas gift. I'll cherish this thing forever, and no matter how epic the monster battle may be...I ain't usin' a drop of it!!!!
Thanks again Dan, and thanks to Tom who suggested it and everyone who participated. Let's do it again next year!
