Yep - That's what's missing.
Not even one lousy classic Universal monster - The whole damned month!(They also didn't include a showing of "The War of the Worlds", even though that is so closely associated with Halloween.)
That's not like TCM, they always show a few. I wonder if Universal had something to do with it. It might have to do with that new 30 movie DVD set. Who wants to pay $150 to $200 when they can watch them for free on Turner?

Could be. Turner usually uses only the best source material and doesn't interrupt their movies with commercials
Many movies would simply be copied to home video for free.
We could have seen the last free broadcast of any Universal Monster films for a very long time...
I'm not as concerned since I have 75 Universal horror (& some sci-fi) movies on DVD/Blu-ray at home. It's kinda nice seeing some films I don't have.

Not a problem for me, either.
My concern is for future classic monsters who may still be too young (or just not quite hooked enough) to have bought their own copies of these old movies.
I did a search though TV listings in my area. Doesn't look like
any stations are airing classic Universal monster movies this month.
How do you build a new fan base if the only way to see the films is to buy them first?

This works for TOHO as well, on the Japanese side of The Axis. :laugh:
They also just pulled the half colorized version of Phantom from the TCM on demand on ATT Uverse. It has been there for a very long time. IFC is doing a bunch of Hammer stuff though.

is a pretty good mix of horrors this year, despite the lack of Universal films.
Once again you come through with Halloween treats, "ADAM" I thank you my friend this schedule is perfect.
Everything on this list that I would watch, I already own on DVD. This year's TCM screenings are useless to me. I would watch "Dracula" or "Frankenstein" just to see them in HD, as I don't have a Blu-ray player yet. Also, I don't see "Mad Monster Party?" listed on any channels that I get. That used to be a Halloween staple on TV for kids in the '70s!

I'd really like TCM to do another Summer Sci-Fi series like they did a few years ago.

It would be better if they re-shuffled the films and did double or triple features for 2 or 3 months of summer.
I really like they idea that UMA'er all across the country are popping popcorn and watching the same movies at the same time. It's like a national virtual drive-in.
Yes, that's cool, kinda like when we all watch "Jaws" on the Fourth of July. There are some films I might catch when they air, although I missed "Blacula" and "Scream, Blacula, Scream!" Saturday night/Sunday morning. But, I have the double-feature DVD.
