Title: Frankenstein and the puppet from Hell
Post by: the_horror_man on July 10, 2014, 10:21:07 PM
Sounds like a classic monster movie. :D These are 2 vintage puppets. The first Frankenstein puppet was made in Mexico in the 1960's. The next one is a Devil puppet from Germany. I think it might be from the 70's. The detail is amazing on both. Here are a bunch of pics from different angles. I probably should of made a video of them battling it out. However, they are old and shouldn't be fighting. lol

Very cool, creepy puppets. The Frankenstein has a very Karloffian profile.

Thanks all. I have seen the Devil puppet come up for sale before. I saw one copy with blue eyes. However, the Frankenstein, I have never seen another one.

These puppets, although they look vintage, are fairly new.  I got some a few years back from a seller in Argentina.  Besides the Frank, there is also a Wolfman, a King Kong and a Dracula.  The Dracula uses the mold from the animated Rennoc vampire, just without the glued on fun fur wig.   I can't find my Drac   because my room is a mess, but here is a pic of the Wolfman. (you can see Frankies hands in the upper right.) And here is a pic of the Kong from an old Ebay auction.

AHH HAAA..  I figured that. I only quoted what the seller said. I just knew something was off and thought it looked more like an 80's or later puppet. On another note, I actually may have to sell or return Frank.. I seem to be having some allergy issues, sniffing and sneezing around him. There is no smell, but  I think it might have been kept with things I am allergic too.

My seller listed him as 70's or 60's.  I didn't notice the Drac was the motionette head until I received it.  The Kong looks familiar also.   Regardless, they still don't pop up very often.  Mexican monster hand puppets, it just sounds cool.  I'm curious if any other characters were done. The Dracula is based on this thing.

Those are all very cool, but I don't care for Dracula.
Looks like I'll have to add a new ebay search.

They are all awesome. However, if my sniffing and sneezing doesn't stop in the next day or so, Frankie will have to be returned or sold.  Allergies suck.

Altho there is no odor try hitting it with an odor neutralizer. Maybe it will block what ever you are allergic to.

Thanks Lester. I cleaned the rubber parts with dishwashing liquid. I will give it a day or 2 and see. If things are the same, I will contact the seller. Unless someone on here might be interested. I am not a seller, so it would probably be sold to someone who wanted it here or in the general monster community.

I think one of the giveaways to the age of these is the hands. Their sculpt appears to be very similar to contemporary "dolly" hands, similar to what a Michael's would carry, for making dolls.
