Debuting in 1962, Spider-man has continued to be the most beloved comic book character in popular fiction... and a character I've always held dear. Even as a child, Spidey was the character that exemplified the world of superheroes better than any other. Whenever I saw the guy on a comic book cover it always seemed to capture my imagination on a level that no other character could. Listed here are the 25 covers that meant the most...

You said it right. It's "what meant the most" regardless of the artistic composition of the artwork on the cover.
I'm so glad you included the Marvel Treasury Edition #1. Around the same time ('74-'75) the Treasury Size came out with another Spider-Man reprint edition that featured front and back covers that mirrored each other.

These are my other candidates for "best covers" not just for personal love for those issues, but in these cases I think the artistic composition, angles, and overall style were superb.

Before finishing your top 25 I knew the #1 cover would be Amazing Spider-man #68. This is also one of my favorite covers and puts you in with the crowd as Spider-man is coming at you. Great covers on your list. Also added your blog to my bookmarks. Cool site!

AWESOME!!! Great response and great classic Spidey covers. :)
I'm old school on Spidey....pick any 25 done by Ditko. he is the best there is, was, and will ever be at illustrating Spiderman...in my opinion.

Thanks.
The picture from Spidey #68 was so popular (especially in the late 70's), I had that pic on my bedsheets and curtains. Loved it!!
People seem to forget to read the article and say I missed key issues...I say that I listed the top 25 Spidey covers that influenced me the most as a kid...THWIPP!!!

I agree with Bigbud. A list of my favourite Spider-Man covers would be heavy with Steve Ditko ones.
:)
Ditko's Peter/Spidey looked unique.
Romita and later folks made him more handsome. More buff.
More like every other comic book hero.
