Title: T.H.E. Cat
Post by: RICKH on March 28, 2014, 10:59:09 PM
I've been watching T.H.E.  Cat on dvd  for the past few evenings.  I fondly remember the show from my childhood.  It ran on NBC for one season 1966-67.  It concerns the exploits of Thomas Hewitt Edward Cat, played by Robert Loggia, a former cat burglar and circus acrobat turned bodyguard.  The series holds up very well today.  Loggia's Cat is an expert in the martial arts, drives a beautiful Corvette, and hangs out at the night club, Casa Del Gato in San Francisco.  Cat's weapons of choice are a .32 Walther PP and a throwing knife that he keeps in an arm holster.  I remember pretending to be Cat and dressing in a black turtleneck and black pants and strapping one of my plastic knives, maybe the one from the James Bond attaché case to my arm. What a great time that was for a kid, Batman, Green Hornet, The Man from UNCLE, and The Wild, Wild West, man!   I was wondering if any of my fellow members recall this series.

Funny, wasn't Thomas Hewitt the name of Leatherface in the 2003 remake?

I found the series for sale on ioffer.com.  It is amazing the variety of long gone series that are available from sellers on that site.

I remember "T.H.E. Cat" very well (I was a big fan of Loggia from his "Nine Lives of Elfego Baca" Disney series) but have not purchased the series on iOffer only because I'm a bit wary of the visual quality. Any comments on those of you who've been watching it on DVD?

Quality is all over on home brew dvds from ioffer, the best thing to do if you want the series is to purchase if it is not availible from retail releases
