Option 5: No, I can't be bothered.
Option 6: Huh? What's this Facebook?
Do you post on Facebook? Why or why not?
???
Yes, I was prodded to join by some friends & relations a few yrs ago. Most of the time I enjoy it as a great way to connect. It also brings out the narcissism in some people!
This is currently the only information forum or board where I post. I've never been in chat rooms or joined any social networks ... I have been on music and political forums in the past.
I connect with family and friends over email and enjoy things that way. I can email when I want and and respond when I want to respond. I would assume that it's the same on most social networks.
As in 'real life' .. I don't follow people and certainly don't want them following me .. LOL
A woman who lived down the block would 'spy' on her husband's Facebook account, get all upset that he connected or reconnected with old girlfriends .. freak out over the likes .. etc.
I can see how it can and does work for people but it's not something that I'm into myself.
I have Facebook, but only check in there maybe between once a week to once a month.
I check in nearly every day, as I have College friends and relatives who are on FB. There are also VINTAGE Classic Film Boards that I'm a member, where kids don't congregate....(otherwise known as PRE VJ-DAY) It can be a lot of fun. I also get the news there, because I'm on the CNN page, as well as the Pages for ABC, CBS and NBC, as well as my local newspaper.
It CAN be a LOT of Fun.. :)

And tons of other official and fan pages! My news feed is always filled with interesting photos, articles and info! If it's out there you can usually find a page devoted to it; although some are better than others as far as content/updates go.
I use Facebook quite a bit, both for personal reasons (connecting with friends, family, etc.), as well as "professional" reasons.
Both of my podcasts have a Facebook page and a Facebook group, so I can connect with my listeners between episodes.
Monster Kid Radio Group - https://www.facebook.com/groups/516200188443509/ (https://www.facebook.com/groups/516200188443509/)
1951 Down Place Group - https://www.facebook.com/groups/307091012635991/ (https://www.facebook.com/groups/307091012635991/)
Also, as a writer with some books scheduled for release later this year, I'll be using Facebook quite a bit as well (promotion, etc.).
Very active there. I use it to promote my comic strip and comic book work, as well as connect with friends and family.
I also have a lot of other artists, musicians, etc. as friends, and damn, if they don't post some really cool stuff.
Yes, I use it. Anyone that wants to friend me from the UMA can PM me, and I'll give you the addy.

Same here.
I use it every day & dig it-
I get lots of music, art, lit, comics, toy & vintage roadside America (to name only a few) info
that I'd (otherwise) have to go looking for-
I check in on my kid's families, my family, old high school friends and new friends which is
cool and lots better then them calling on the phone or (gulp) actually coming to my house!
My home town page (where I grew up in the '60s) is really fun - My other home town page
(teen age years in the '70s) isn't as cool, but it's still fun...
And I start every day with 'A Zappa A Day' - in chronological order - (just finishing up '78) ;)
Really can't see why people don't like it-
I'm effectively getting off it..........just don't dig it.
I'll Miss You, Friend Gary..... :'(

One of the things I've noticed is that once you start mixing UMA friends with your other friends...it can get weird. Topics that aren't allowed on UMA, like religion and politics, can get very heated. Especially if all you know about someone is they love monsters as much as you. Then, you make a political or religious post on FB, and suddenly you're in the middle of WWIII! That's one of the sometimes unfortunate drawbacks of FB.

It's not the topics to me......I find the layout counterintuitive and aggravating. Ive had many off topic discussions here via PM.Im just a forum guy I guess.
I'm in the "No. It's too mass market for me" camp.

Have any UMA members now changed their views after all the revelations concerning Facebook's misuse of members' data?
???

I do not use or have anything to do with Facebook.💀⚰
Facebook is just another media to destroy people and their lives, relationships and souls.

But there's also a dark side! ;D
I'm more of an "anti-social media" guy. I see so many idiots gleefully give away vital information just to post pictures of their meals. I'm sure many will post pics of what their food looks like when they sh#t it out. Face it, it's just a tool for losers to stalk ex-high school girlfriends (since they can't find women in the real world).

Mord!!! Wow!! That comment exemplified, on how I feel about FB. In the beginning, I really liked FaceBook and certain groups I had joined. There were some real neat vinyl, movie and collecting groups. Then the cracks started to surface and certain members became more brazen and how they felt and expressed their disdain towards members and their choices.
More and more, troll after troll. When a person who enjoys music and joins a Facebook group, I would think that an Admin would not allowed
hateful, racist or any f***-up comments. But it happens.
I guess my point, is, never let a vast group, such as one on Fb groups know too much information. Because eventually
said member or members will use it against that member.
There were a couple of so-called
Horror groups I initially joined, that were just casual Horror fans. The caveat. Joining a Horror group leads in to
SelfieTuesdays. Which had nothing to do with theme of the group. Which also lead to taking
selfies and showing their homes, bathrooms, cars.....whatever.
I will never be on Facebook ever again. To be blunt. That Social Media network is awful. To quote you, Mord:
Face it, it's just a tool for losers to stalk ex-high school girlfriends (since they can't find women in the real world).
However. Let me expand on your quote. Facebook is also a tool to use in being a disgusting pervert or pedophile. More and more children are being exploited on Social Media....because Parents' do not govern their childrens usage or activities on Facebook or other social media networks.
Very well-stated, my friend. I just love it when you hear stories about morons who get burglarized after posting pics while on vacation. Everybody wants their 15 minutes, at any cost.
I also find it to be a cesspool of hatred, pedophilia, and anti-semitism. The hatred is quickly spread online while the shootings and destruction continues. Can you imagine if Hitler or John Wayne Gacy had access to the internet? It's getting scary out there.
I love cats! Facebook has some great pages such as Grandpa Mason and his Kittens and/or TinyKittens. I lost a cat and have used FB to attempt to find her, no luck into her disappearance but I've connected with other cat lovers.
I am very careful what I post on community FB pages but have found out about new restaurants in the area and have shared my likes on my favorite Chinese takeout, plumbers, vent cleaning services, tailors, dry cleaners .. etc.
Like any tool, you should use it wisely.
i still find a lot of groups I like on Facebook. The groups I follow include one on Dark Shadows, Old Houses, Svengoolie, and Funeral Coaches. Plus it's a lot easier to post pictures there, than on this site.

That's all very sensible. It can be a useful tool, but many times it's used as a weapon against society. Btw, my girlfriend and I are also big cat lovers. Sorry you never found your cat ( those little guys become your kids, after awhile).
I've started a Classic Comedy page, if anyone's interested. Movies, film stars & memorabilia! Sidesplitting photos to share the fun & memory of classic comedy films.
I've just been put in Facebook jail, for stating something factually true historically about one of the two major political parties. It bothers me that places like Facebook and "Go Comics" only want people to post one side of the political debate, but will claim anything said about their side, which is less then complimentary, goes against their "community standards". Here's an idea, why not just prohibit posting anything political at all, to prevent people from engaging in what George Orwell might describe as "wrong think"? Sorry for venting, and please don't respond with your politics, whatever they may be. I never come to Universal Monster Army to discuss politics.
I don't believe that Facebook is in any way objective when it comes to politics.
:(

I don't have any social media (unless UMA counts?) because it's entirely useless to me, but if I did I think I would take great pleasure in gaining lots of Friends (because the sign of your own worth a is how many random cyberstalkers like to look at pictures of your entire life) and then systematically unfriending them all one by one. I think it would also be fun to deny friend requests. Not because I'm anti-social but rather because unless your number is in my contacts on my phone I simply don't care what you think. Heck, unless you're my wife or kids I don't care what you think.

SCREAM! I've been using Facebook to look for my cat and started helping others find their pets. I'm also learning about things that happen in my community, upcoming events, gardening and other useful and not so useful things. I enjoy sharing good restaurants and vendors.
Monday morning, I was in Facebook and suddenly, I was kicked out and got a box asking if I was a robot. Long story .. I use one email for facebook and don't have a mobile phone. Facebook is demanding a mobile number to send me a security code. Facebook has no phone contact or email contact so I've been using the "Has this information been helpful" box, check "NO" and explain who I am, my email and landline and that I don't have a mobile number to contact. So far, no results.
I basically read three community forums and some helping lost pets forums. This is upsetting that there isn't a contact number or email. End of vent.
I have a personal page, a collector page called "The Astonishing Eye", and a classic horror and sci-fi page called "Classic Horror and Sci-Fi Historians". Facebook has its uses, but can get pretty nasty at times. I've had much better experiences on this site and the CHFB.
I've also started a Monster Movies page last fall, if anyone's interested. I enjoy FB, but I'm put off by the political divisiveness. Solution: I've unfriended/unfollowed many people.
