(http://cdn.funcheap.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/06/beatles-1964.jpg) GEORGE!!!! :-*
I can't believe that John and George are gone. As young girl, Paul was my favorite but as I grew older and sometimes wiser, my preference changed to George.
Murray the K, the Disc Jockey at 1010 WINS New York announced the time and flight number of the Beatles arrival and the world was shocked at all the young girls who flocked to JFK airport. My friend's dad worked for U.S. Customs at the time. He and some other guys smuggled the Beatles out of the airport in a laundry truck .. a trick that they used many times after.
The Beatles have been my favorite group since I started listening to music, and John Lennon my idol.

I remember when the Beatles did the same thing in Palo Alto, CA:
To escape the Cabana Hotel, the Beatles were whisked-out of their Room 810 Suite, down the North side elevator, past the Cabana kitchen and out through the service entrance. Sure enough, two decoy limos and a truck were stationed out front, prompting many fans to wave goodbye to Beatles that they mistakenly thought were inside. They left in a delivery truck, (almost forgetting Ringo).
To THIS day, you can rent the Beatles' room number 810, although it was remodeled a bit
and of course you can see some Beatles photos.
The Cabana Hotel is now called The Crowne Plaza (4290 El Camino Real, Palo Alto, CA 94306).
I just learned "Paperback Writer" a week ago on my guitar and I love their sound.
I have a ton of Beatles memories, including listening to their 12" records during my typing class many moons ago.

While I still am to this very day more of a Rolling Stones fan, I did watch the Beatles live on the
Ed Sullivan Show that day with the rest of my family and they made a profound impression on my young self. I believe they appeared on the
Ed Sullivan Show three weeks in a row and performed my favourite of their early hits on one of those appearances:
The Beatles "Please Please Me" (custom stereo mix) (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=01OauMWeUJI#ws)

Cool Video ...
Thanks, Hep - great video!
I was there watching on the tube that amazing night, too - and have loved The Boys from age 5 to 55.
The tribute show last night, at first, bugged me because it was light on clips... but then several terrific covers by others grew on me, and Ringo stole the show when he and Paul got up and performed.
They were, are, and always will be The Beatles. That's all that needs to be said.

"She Loves You" was always my Beatles "fave"....

Be sure to check out the Beatles' 4 part mini documentary
on Youtube, if you have not enjoyed it already.
Their manager made sure none of their girlfriends were seen at gigs, to keep the lads more of a dream for the female fans.
Once they stopped playing live, they dropped their manager.
Since they needed so much security before, after and during shows, it made sense for them to record albums in secret and sell them and skip the live gigs. But of course it slowly made them go their own way.
John also said in later interviews that they also moved to only Studio work, because the noise working live prevented them from creating good music.

This make sense.
I dp believe that the Beatles would've gone their own ways no matter where or how they recorded.
As for the 'no girlfriends' to seen, this and variants such as gay actors getting married and/or having articles written about them being 'ladies men' .. etc. is just part of the game.

Flower, as single artists, George's stuff speaks the most to me, too.

True, but once they stopped touring, it became ONE of the reasons they broke-up. It was a combo of events - the cessation of touring in '66, the death of their manager in '67, meaning the Beatles were personally involved in financial and legal conflicts. Conflict arose from differences in artistic vision. George wanted more support for songs he wanted to contribute, but was not supported by John and Paul. George and Ringo temporarily left the group at various points during 1968–69 and all four band members had begun working on solo projects by 1970 as they felt the likelihood the band would not regroup.
It had to happen also just for them to continue to explore their own solo careers. George and Ringo would have to go their own ways to get their songs out. Their wealth may have changed all 4 Beatles a bit too, as it changes most humans in some ways.
The last time I saw Ringo live I was near the front row. He never took his sunglasses off, before or during the show. I REALLY thought he would take them off during the last song or right after it, as a bonus thrill for the crowd, but he didn't. Perhaps he felt it made him look younger, or else of course he could have been buzzed as well. >:D

My favorite Beatles tune ...
the beatles/ in my life / Classic music vid. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zI0Q8ytD44Y#)
Back in 64 ' my dad , a barber used to cut the hair of the production manager at the Ed Sullivan show , I was 7 my cousin was 11 . My dad got us 3 tickets for that show . My memories were simple as a kid . It was the loudest thing I'd ever heard ,the screaming , the music it was all a blur. I did get to see (what I missed) that night on tv along with 70 million other people . It was the first time I'd ever heard of them and it began a lifelong love affair with their music.
Hey wow! Cool story.
Here's another one of my early favourites by the Beatles:

The Beatles' appearance on the Ed Sullivan Show spawned an absolute avalanche of merchandising over and above their records. Here are scans of some of my Topps Beatles cards.
The first one Topps issued was a 155 card set issued in three series:
Topps then issued the Beatles Color Photos set:

A second series of these was issued as Beatles Diary cards:

Finally Topps issued a set based on the Hard Day's Night movie that was released later in 1964:

As you can see, it was the right query but Ed got the band wrong!
;)
A long time Beatles fan , I remember buying my first Beatles Pencil Case back in the 60s at McCroys for a whole $.25 cents
For those fans who love everything Beatles , Here's a Few Rutles Videos
Some Monty Python Alum's got together w/ George Harrison Backing them and formed the group "The Rutles"
Word is John liked them so much ne never gave the demo tape back to them , and George and Ringo wanted to start a Band w/ Neil Innes and Eric Idle of the Rutles to recreate the sound of the 60s for a new generation , too bad it was never worked out as it would have been brilliant.

Pity indeed! The Rutles were great, and a relaunched Rutles with George and Ringo would have provided a counterpoint and alternative to the execrable material Paul McCartney was releasing after the Beatles' breakup.

I fully agree it's so funny while The Members of Monty Python were Beatles fans George , Ringo and John loved The Pythons , truely a union that should have been expanded on .
Monty Python's life of Brian wouldn't have been made without the help of George Harrison who put his house on mortgage to help fund the film

It's funny how you mention Paul as he was the only Beatle that was miffed at The Rutles and did not get the humor or Brilliance of them.
Eric Idle mentioned that they both attended an event together and were placed at the same table and the looks Paul was giving him could have frozen the sun. It finally took Linda to tell Paul to lighten up as it was the funniest thing she had seen in years , after that he changed his opinion.
