When i was a young little kid in the mid 60's, i have to admit, Batman tv show and the Batmobile was my all time favorite. But there was also another great crimefighter who never got any respect, and never got the fan following , today, the Green Hornet is and always will be better than Batman.

Definitely one of the great adaptations to the  medium  Although a bit campy , who can ever forget our original introductions to some of the greatest villains  ever to hit the small screen. The use of some of Hollywood's truly famous actors in roles that other actors and actresses would have turned their nose to . Frank Gorshin , I still haven't seen a Riddler like him, Cesar Romero so ok , I liked Jack and Heath they were  truly inspiring  but he's a character that's always been a go to bad guy when talking about Batman's nemesis.  Lee Meriwether a great Catwoman , Burgess Meredith a fantastic Penquin  ,  the list goes on . I hope when the series is released they have the episode with The Green Hornet and Batman squaring off loved Van Williams and Bruce Lee perhaps that may not be far behind.  I agree with Wolfman, I might have liked to see a conclusion to that square off .

This is by far the best TV news in a long, long time. How long have we waited for this!?

I knew something was up when Mattel released the 1966 Batman figures (awesome by the way) plus followed up with the 66 comic book (eh..so, so). My local comic book guy and I were arguing about it all the time, he said we probably wouldn't see it until at least 5 years or so with how DC/WB works..I said 2 years max, no way they're pushing all the 1966 stuff and not putting out the shows. The 66 comic books aren't all that great, if anything they're kind of like a primer for the show being released. The figures are long overdue but only for actual collectors and hardcore Bat fans...little kids are busy with Iron Man, they have NO CLUE who Adam West's Batman is...the figure line was released to coincide with everything else! And finally.......POW! We got it. Man I can't wait to unwind with a beer and pop that on the tube.

Slightly off topic...the Batman figure line is pretty cool. I had all of them including the Batmobile but sold everything except the Batman & Robin set and Joker. The Batmobile was INCREDIBLY over priced at 80.00 from TRU.com--nice looking but hollow plastic with no real working features for that kind of money, the red beacon should have lit up for 80 bucks plus shipping. If you buy ONE figure though, grab that Romero Joker..the detail and colors are off the chain and they even sculpted his mustache onto his face. Awesome action figure.

Lee Meriwether a great Catwoman...
She was only Catwoman in the feature film. Julie Newmar and Eartha Kitt were the TV show's Catwoman.

I bought the Batmobile for the figure set online for a little over $50. It's pretty damn awesome, though has some slight inaccuracies (that 99% of people wouldn't even notice).

The large scale Adam West figure from NECA is great, too. I found it for $79. Here is the figure with "Bat Hound" (aka my dog)...

Didn't "Bat Hound" replace Robin at some point in the series?

I can't believe you got the Batmobile for that price! I had to preorder it from TRU.com..then it sold out and I was able to get it on the 2nd shipment..and well you know the rest.

Your large scale NECA looks awesome, Bathound is pretty fierce too  ;)

That's awesome. Finally some good news. Been waiting for that since they took it off TV Land before they sold out.

I haven't heard an "official" release yet but there is another NYCC coming this summer--hopefully they'll be some news then.

Seriously though I hope Adam West gets a nice cut from this. The guy gets almost no credit, especially from hardcore comic book and Bat fans. If you say Bixbi/Ferrigno/Hulk..it always carries WAY more respect than West/Batman does. Obviously 2 completely different shows but I just think Adam West should get a bit more respect for his role as Batman. Throw the guy a bone, Ferrigno had a small cameo in Hulk and I heard West wanted one for Dark Knight but was laughed out of the office.

End of the day, he still had the best Batmobile!

QuoteI still won't believe it until it's in my hands.

Same here. Too bad greed got in the way and it will hurt them in the end.  10 years ago when DVDs started appearing on store shelves, think of all those people who could not see this series on the shelf even as an impulse buyer.

Not everyone is a fan on a forum. Many are from the generation when the show first aired and are a browser shopper who would say "oh, I used to love that show as child, maybe I can share it with my kids."  I wonder what the sales loss would come to if they totaled up that market for all those years it wasn't available. 10 years is a long time for a lost market.

It was not just a TV series. Like it or not, it was a cultural phenomenon at the time it first aired and it stylistically impacted movies and other TV shows and even resuscitated the comic books.  A decade  is a long time to wait for a piece of American culture, especially when you consider that many of your potential buyers have literally been dying off.

Such a tragic waste for everyone, both buyer and seller. :'(

I agree, people don't buy DVD's like they used to. That said when I buy this set it will be my third set. The 1st is a set with the TV Land logo in the corner the 2nd bootleg is a better set but still not great!

Depending on when you got the TV Land version, it could have been heavily edited because when it aired there were 4 minutes more of commercials than the original 1960s broadcast.
In addition, in some versions the frame rate was sped up to compress the time to fit it all in. So Adam West sometimes sounds like Mickey Mouse and Burt Ward sounds like...well...Burt Ward.  >:D
