Disney's Maleficent Official Teaser Trailer (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=704EXbJ-b5k#ws)
Let's see you have a hand drawn animated film, styled after medieval tapestries, with the incredible voice talents of Mary Costa, and Elenor Audley; and the new live action version with plenty of CGI, and with the "talents" of Elle Fanning and Angelina Jolie reprising those parts? To quote the vampire from the Inspector animated short "Bleh, bleh bleh!"
This trailer looks fantastic, but I have heard horrible rumors about the script. Let's hope it stays true to the evil origins of the character. That laugh, emulating Audley as closely as I have ever heard, was the selling point for me. (Let's face it. The replacement voices for Maleficent in animation have never come close to the original, let alone anything that sounded as good as this.)
Angelina Jolie (meh). Too much CGI does not a good (or memorable) movie make. Good luck Di$ney.
skeptical ol' mh
Angelina Jolie? You're right. Bleh it is. The woman Brad Pitt left to take up with Angelina was the far better one.

I'm unclear, what are you saying? ;)
One of the ideas my daughter tells me they're planning is to make King Stephan a Villian. I guess the idea is to reboot the whole "Sleeping Beauty" story into one where Maleficent was simply misunderstood, and needed a warm hug.

I'll definitely go see the movie. I only go to the movies about 6 or 7 times a year because they come out on dvd so fast- I don't have a chance to see them on the big screen! HA! I saw the trailer when I went to see Frozen, and I was intrigued. I told my grandson I was going to wear my Maleficent costume from Halloween 2011, when we go to the theater- hahahaha! Which I would never ever do! My cheekbones aren't as sharp and my lips aren't as pouty as the uber-lovely Ms. Jolie! And.....I'm almost 52...Boo! Hiss!
But even if the plot is sucky, I will enjoy the visual art- I'm sure.

Sounds like King Stefan is more of a reluctant villain, he is the successor to the king that invaded the land whom Maleficent tried to stop....still the misunderstood thing seems to be the overall key element!

Now all we'll need is in the sequel for Olaf to give her a warm hug, and soon they'll all be singing Kumbaya.
Before or after the prince kills her in dragon form?

My guess is that she will be defeated in dragon form, returning to her human self but still alive and kicking....and still able to pull off that kumbaya ending!

Because that black ooze, which is how she ended up when the sword went directly into her heart, certainly looked like a minor injury to me.

If she can transform into a dragon I don't see why it'd be hard to believe that she could turn back into a human from a black ooze......it is fantasy after all!
We actually don't have to worry about Maleficent transforming into anything, if the rumors of the screenplay are true. So no need to worry. That technicality has already been taken care of. ;D

In badly written sequel fiction, that would be true. Considering the fight she put on to prevent Philip from reaching Princess Aurora, if she wasn't dead, then it is nonsensicle that she wouldn't have regenerated, and continued going after Philip. After the sword failed to actually kill her, recapturing Prince Philip (or squashing him like a bug) would have been a easy matter.

Absolutely! I'm hoping it's just a rumor. This looks like a one-time gig. Jolie isn't very big on sequels. She only did two "Tomb Raider" flicks, after all. If they try to turn this into a franchise, where the heck does the character go from here? Like most Disney villains, she's only associated with the one story! What's next? She teams up with Captain Hook to bedevil Peter Pan? She bides her time until present day, and sucks the magic from Herbie, the Love Bug? She's redeemed and turns into the other Good Witch of Oz? No, no, no! B*tch has gotta die!

Her surviving the dragon death isn't for sequel purposes but for happy ending purposes, as has been mentioned this film seems to be portraying her villiany as a big misunderstanding; that way everything can come out hunkydory in the end! I've no idea but as Philip defeats her in dragon form the whole "misunderstanding" (the original king was a conquerer, Malificent a defender) will come out, leaving her and the others with no cause for further conflict!

This will no doubt allow her to at last find love, and having a daughter. The daughter will no doubt be part of that academy for the offspring of Disney Villains, which Disney is planning to come out with to get in on the sucess of "Monster High".

But it's true! At least, part of it...

As for the dolls... These ones seem to be based on Disney's interpretations of the princesses...

Though these other ones that have the daughter of the Evil Queen are better and more popular:

Still I don't think there will be a connection between this film and the Disney Channel project.
Offspring will include the kids of Jaffar, Cruella DeVille ectera. I knew that Jaffar and Iago were close, but I would have never thought that they had a kid together. Oh well, we are talking a magical land where anything can happen. By the way, since Cruella DeVille is from the 20th Century, and most of these villians are from hundereds of years earlier, time travel will no doubt be involved. I haven't been this excited about a Disney project, Since I saw the picture of Johnny Depp with a dead bird on his head as the character "Tonto".
I highly doubt they are to worried about tying this film into the "fairytale children" line (or whatever they are calling it)! I don't think it bugs girls that love Monster High that none of the monsters ever had children in their movies/novels and never could since they all ended up dead! Kids really aren't going to put that much thought behind it......and I doubt Disney will either!
I"m convinced that the harpy Jaffarette, whose parents would be Iago and Jaffar, should be voiced by Alex Borstien (Lois-Family guy), Frans Drescher, or Roseannne Barr.

Precisely my thoughts, but the studios keep casting Jolie in roles again and again and again.

I can't believe the waste of talent here. Instead of wasting Jolie's talents here, they should do a remake of "Who's afraid of Virginia Wolf", casting her in Taylor's part, with Keannu Reeves playing the part played by Richard Burton. This would allow for this story to be enjoyed by an entirely new generation!
Isn't the word "enjoy" an oxymoron when used in a sentence with the names of those two movie stars?
???
If something is really bad, there can be a perverse enjoyment in viewing it. One of my favorite Keannu Reeves films to enjoy in how really bad it is, is the version of "Babes in Toyland he did, with Drew Barrymore. Hey, maybe Nicholas Cage and Myley Cyrus can play the other couple in the Virginia Wolf remake.
Say what you will re Bill & Ted, but I feel KR was magnificent in The Matrix!
Also, I have a soft spot for Point Break.

I like the concept, but I think Lindsay Lohan would be a better fit for Mr. Reeves talent.

Ok, I'll give you Point Break, but I found Bill & Ted a lot more enjoyable than that pretentious Matrix trilogy.
An acquaintance of mine shared this article with me. I never knew of the Vampira-Maleficent connection.

Very interesting! Maila also has said that she did voice work for the Haunted Mansion as Madame Leota; apparently no recordings exist of her performance although she had claimed that some of the HM outtakes (heard on various bootlegs and HM Anniversary releases) were her voice! Usually these outtakes are always attributed to, interestingly enough Elainor Audly (the actual voice of Madame Leota and the more known human form of Maleficent)........and the two actresses actually do sound alot alike!
Very cool! I didn't know that either!
