Is anybody else watching season 3 so far?
I was loathe to watch it, as I didn't enjoy Asylum at all (but I loved the first season).
But I caught up in a Coven marathon, and am enjoying it so much. Justa lot of fun.
I'm finding this witch season to be a madcap blast, especially the scenes between Kathy Bates and Jessica Lange. I'm enjoying it enough that I'm refraining from picking it apart. I'm sure it has flaws, but looking for them will spoil the fun.
So far (SPOILERS!!!!) there's been buses flipping over, acid disfigurement, frankenstein zombies, real bonafide from the ground voo-doo zombies and accompanying dismemberments, crocodile head munching, a throat being slit, great Stevie Nicks music moments, LOTS of poor slave torture, and yes, a witch burning at the stake.
And the season's only half over! :D
I enjoyed both the first and second seasons but so far the third tops both of them! I just hope they can keep coming up with great stories for seasons to come.
The cast, both returning and new additions, is excellent as always.
I think those zombies were more a hybrid of voodoo and modern zombie lore though!
My first season watching and I must say it is enjoyable. I will definitely continue watching.
The opening montage is filed with creepy images. In addition to Jessica Lange, it is great to see Angela Bassett onscreen again. The Halloween episode was great. Frankenstein monsters, witchcraft, zombies, voodoo and trick r treaters!
Loving every minute of this season...the Lange / Bates chemistry is pure magic and the story line combination of witchcraft VS voodoo [ not to mention the underlying Frankenstein sub plot involving the newly assembled and now escaped boyfriend ] makes for some incredibly enjoyable viewing!
Oh I am loving Season 3! I liked the first season a lot, but season 2 was a little confusing to me (with the serial killer, priest stuff & aliens), but I really like all this witch business. And the setting is awesome! I admit I was a little uncomfortable during parts of the season opener. I was saddened by some of the historical references. It was hard to watch, but I stuck with it and admire the writers honesty. I am a HUGE Angela Bassett fan! And I squealed with happiness when she showed up on the screen!! I am really starting to like Kathy Bates, too. I haven't seen too many of her movies, but she is brilliant on the show! And Jessica Lange is so gorgeous and believable in EVERY role! Anyway, I couldn't get over how fantastic every single plot & subplot are this season. The kid playing "Kyle" deserves an Emmy for his performance on last week's show- the part about the tattoos- WOW!! He is brilliant! The looks on his face every week and the way he brings so much emotion to the show- AGGHHHH!! I love it all!
Although 'Asylum' is my favourite season so far, I'm loving season 3! The show is ridiculously macabre and genuinely scary in parts. I hope it goes on and on.
Some favourite moments from 'Asylum' - (SPOILER ALERT!)
The moment when the journalist lady goes back to Zachery Quinto's flat, and as she gazes around the room she notices a suspicious looking lampshade, and other 'organic' homemade items! Get the hell outa there! I also loved the scene when the deformed nymphomaniac chick crawled up the boiler room steps into the school playground!
I honestly have enjoyed all three seasons. I like that each series is different, instead of rehashing the previous season.

.... I am a HUGE Angela Bassett fan! And I squealed with happiness when she showed up on the screen!! ....
I know, right?
And she's employing some Hollywood Voodoo of her own, because when I saw her I thought man, that kinda looks like Angela Bassett, but it
can't be because she looks so young and absolutely PERFECT. She's like in her 50's and she's more amazing now than when her film career started! egads. And hello, turning out to be quite the sneaky villainess.
Angela Bassett is outstanding on AHS! She makes me shudder when she goes into that trance! I just saw her on tv in an interview and she looks just as young & lovely! And she seems so personable and sweet :) I also can't get over how much empathy I feel for Kathy Bate's character, considering I was so repulsed & angry with her during the first episode! THAT is great acting! :)
Wow - I had no idea Angela Bassett was in her fifties. She is gorgeous.
Always loved Angela Bassett, I am glad to see her onscreen again. She is FINE.
I also read Stevie Nicks will be making an appearance this season. She's in her mid 60's and still is hot.

Stevie Nicks! Wow! I have never really listened to her music, but I recognized every song they have played on the show. My sister recently explained to me that it was rumored that Stevie Nicks was a witch in real life! I had never heard this before, so I have a lot of catching up to do! I left off somewhere in 1967- I guess! hahahaha!
I can't wait to tell my sister. She's younger than me and when we watched the movie Sid and Nancy- I kept calling my sister Stevie Nicks because she had the long, lovely, perfect 80s/90s hair that looked like hers, and in the movie there was a line where Nancy screamed, "I LOOK LIKE STEVIE NICKS!!". I sound rambling & old, but it's the influenza talking. I look forward to this show every week and it's the ONLY show that my sister & I share. So it's awesome fun!
Thanks for the heads up this looks good
Great series. I enjoy season 1&3. Season two was good, just written with to many subplots.
YES! That was the most best awesome end of episode surprise ever!
Just when you thought it couldn't get in any better, you get....... well I can't say because I don't want to spoiler it. :P
I just really hope the surprise is featured often in the future. It would be nirvanah.
Man! It has been such a long week..... I decided to stay up and watch the show last night, but I might need to re-watch the episode during the day! I have a medium sized tv- maybe 27-32"....I really haven't measured it, and I didn't pick it out so I didn't see the box it came in. But- I had the WORST time last night, seeing what the heck was going on in some of the scenes! It was super dark - every time they showed the guy that looked like Dr. Facilier! Without spoiling.....it seemed very Serpent and the Rainbow-ish last night. And then there's Stevie Nicks...and then there's Maude- (just kidding) I am not a Fleetwood Mac fan, but Ms. Nicks seemed like such a nice lady :) I recognized the song she was singing and I enjoyed the tie-in with the show. OMG! I hope I didn't spoil by letting Stevie Nicks out of the bag!
Over all, it seemed like an okay episode- but too short! It needed to be 2 hours long.
SPOILER ALERT:
We're up to episode 8 over here...can't wait for Stevie Nicks! I had a laugh the other night watching the episode when Queenie puts Cathy Bates' head in front of a TV and forces her to watch Roots! I laughed because I've often said that the best way to deal with an unapologetic racist is to tie them up and force them to watch the whole ten hours of Roots!
Faithful viewer of all three seasons.....I enjoy that each new season follows a new storyline, and many of the actors are carried over from season to season...
I've missed an episode or two of Season 3.....some of the plot elements aren't falling into place...what happened to the girl from the movie "Precious"?

SPOILERS
Depends on where you are at?! She was raped by Marie's Minotaur....and then later convinced by Marie to join the voodoo side!! I haven't watched the last episode so not sure her fate in that one!
Wow, love the way you put the spoiler in black print, ZH. Great idea!
Just finished "Coven" well done FX, will have to track down "Asylum" now. This show pulls no punches!!
I just finished watching Coven, back to back to back...whew,I really liked it.I skipped season 2, but I am planning to watch it.
I've heard season 4 involves a carnival.

I've heard season 4 involves a carnival.
That's a good start.
The carnival theme is just fanboy posting the last I heard; all that has been officially mentioned for season 4 is the 50's, Louisiana (I believe that is confirmed?!) and Jessica Lange is working on a German accent!
Oooooh.....interesting! German accent- hmmmmm... I love being surprised! Us grown ups rarely get to be surprised anymore, so it's so much fun speculating & reading hints! I love it!!! But I still hate the waiting- teehee. :)
Gotta work my way backwards on the 2 previous seasons...hello Netflix streaming...
I like the previous seasons more than 3.
1 is creepy, 2 is disturbing. Highly recommended!
Baron, I agree! :) Season 2 was super creepy!
Looks like the carnival theme for season 4 has been confirmed by one of the show's writers!

Are you sure that those aren't just fanboys posting that? :P
I hope it's not a carnival setting. I would love to see a cemetery setting with evil morticians....maybe a Phantasm vibe? That could be creepy.
Or some Satanic cult/devil worship? Aliens?
Considering how many people are afraid of clowns, and how we've already gotten some great horror films with a carnival setting (Cabinet of Dr. Caligari and Freaks are two of those) A carnival may be an ideal place to tell a story that takes place over a period of times, and involving a number of different characters, which AMHS has done in each of it's seasons. I suppose in a future episode, a mortuary attached to a cemetery could accomplish that. The problem with a cemetery alone, unless your talking about the caretakers quarters, you don't really have a place for the living characters to live out their daily lives. I look forward to the upcoming season, and so far I haven't been disappointed by any of the previous seasons.
I understand the clown deal. I was talking from a personal viewpoint.
A carnival setting may have broad appeal, but a devil worshiping Satanic cult to me is scarier than dudes in clown make up.
Either way, the first two seasons had a tense, creepy vibe through out. Season Three lost some of that towards the end. Make it the creepiest carnival filled with all sorts of creepy characters.

Sometimes a setting with a broad appeal is useful when it comes to attracting viewers. At Knott's Scary Farm, one of their horror mazes is an evil circus. For those who don't care about evil carnivals, we'll the series has yet to return to a location they've already covered in a previous season, so just pass on this season
.
No one is passing on the season. Evil carnivals are cool. As a matter of discussion, it's all opinion.
The bottom line is all that matters to the suits.
Ooh! This sounds delightful! I bet we're gonna see lots of carnies!! (I mean that in a respectful way..especially if you're a monster kid carnie) I am looking forward to Season 4- bring it on, FX!
