[admin]Have a suggestion? This is the place to tell us![/admin]
I really hope I am not over stepping my bounds as a new blood but I have a few suggestions for the forum I thought I would offer up.
I am not sure if it can be done, I really like the lightning effect on the background spider webs and thought if we had some cool sound effects to go with it that would enhance the awesomeness of the site. I particulary like the haunting sounds on the Menu page of the Legacy Collection. Just some cool sound effects to hear in the background while surfing the forum would be awesome.
I also thought it might be a good idea to create a gallery of members with their favorite cool photo next to their screen name. Perhaps a costumed photo or some other cool shot. With so many members maybe it would have to be done for those who reach a certain number of posts. It would be great to be able to put faces with names and have a member gallery of photos to surf through.
Those are the only two ideas I can think of at the moment. So far I have really enjoyed the site. Keep up the good work.

I really like this idea as well. General Terry, do you think something like this could be implemented for members?

An idea that has definitely been taken into consideration. Not sure though that it has to be a Gallery photo album. We could also make it a sticky thread at one of the boards where members go ahead and post their favorite photo of themselves. Their profile and avatar would also show as it does in any other post. How's that sound?
Yknow quite a few of the current members missed out on the Ootmah phenomenon - what is being described could almost be derivative. I miss Ootmahs - but I know all things must pass, like gas in the night. But sometimes also these things return...in a different form...

It sounds like a good deal to me. :)
Just a minor addition, buit one that's commonplacew when web prowsing.. typically when there's a website logo, you can select it to head back "home" to the main page.
But the only way we can go to the home page is that teensy weensy button.
Could you add the link code so the main log also sends us back home? It's nice, and big, and I MUST select it!

That's a great idea Gareee. Yes, I can make that change sometime over the weekend. Thanks for the suggestion!
Thanks! It's not much, but something I'm always used to. (Also when people use larger monitors with much higher resolution, the button sizes all shrink down.)
I think the home button here might be 1/8th inch high, and 2/5s of an inch wide.
Now working! The forum home page logo is now an active link which will automatically redirect to the forum home page.
Thanks Gareee for the suggestion! It helps me too with aging eyes as well as a large screen resolution.
/me clicks is several times JUST to play with it!
This is for all suggestions.
is there anyway of just clicking on the box and yer username and password comes up, without having to type them both in??

Well, there ain't no way to get it wrong, so it must be something at your end.
I'm sure I'm not telling you anything you don't know, but when you click that 'forever' setting, your computer accepts a cookie (or some similar digital agreement that results in a tiny file saying 'remember that he clicked this!' being placed on your computer)... perhaps you have a setting on an antivirus or firewall software somewhere which is not allowing you to accept cookies?
Or, if you happen to have any programs that clean out your temp files or cookies or internet cache, etc., running in the background, your click on 'forever' will only be good until that program cleans out the cookie that you received when you clicked it. I have made sure to set all of my monitoring/cleaning applications to manual, and gone into their options to exclude/exempt cookies from UMA and some other frequently visited sites when the program runs its clean-up.
If you have anything like Norton, or McAfee, etc., go into their inner workings and see what they're doing with your temp internet files, your cookies, and what is set to automatic vs manual. If there is the option to exempt certain cookies but block all others, make sure to put the UMA (and whatever else you'd like) on that list.
Just one option fer ya.
Thanks for the info Mike C 8)

Hi Gareee. The old themes prior to the recent update no longer work with this version of software. There is however a "white theme" named "smf default core". You should be able to switch to this theme by clicking on your profile and then clicking on look and layout preferences. More themes will be made available in the coming weeks.
we need a chat room....that way, we can talk to each other quickly, instead of waiting on replies. :)
Isn't appropriate however although it must is a curving corridor photo album. We will also go forward and mail one of the board of directors of their fancy their own photograph to make at the member it to become a sticky sticky line. When it does in any other posts, the incarnation of their descriptions and absolute being will also mean.
Say what?

Who programmed the jiggle that crops up when making a longer post into this program? Was it somebody's intention to discourage posts above a certain length?
Get rid of it. I've never encountered anything like it on any other board.

Does anybody get a similar "error" sonund?

Nope...............and I've posted some long, rambling, nonsensical crappola in my time.
I've noticed that. You can't read what your typing after awhile. It moves back into the paragraph and then as you type it jumps back and fourth from the letter thats being typed and back to the middle of the post. (If that makes any sense)

Don't know what kind of glitch this is (or who's), but it wasn't purposefully programed to do that.
what happened to the cool image of UA? The bat wings don't do any justice.

Suggestion..........a way to "unwatch" threads. Some forums have a filter that allows you to ignore threads.
It's probably not a big deal but I noticed that "memorabilia" is spelled wrong on the index page. Looks like it's correct on the webpage title.
I fixed it, if whoever is in charge of that sort of thing wants to use it:

Is there any way when I log on to the UMA my laptop will dispense a cold beer a Swedish swimsuit model and a shopping cart full of vintage collectibles?? Is this feature not working for anyone else??
I thought this might get more attention here.Quote from: BigShadow on May 13, 2012, 06:31:59 PM
I'm not sure who to address this too but has anyone thought of implementing a chat room on this site? I think it would be a great idea to be able to have a real-time conversation with other members. We could also set times for discussion chats or round-tables. So if anyone else thinks this would be good, please respond here and hopefully who ever needs to see this can develop a chat room for this site.
Thanks Count...I just seen this thread and was going to post the Chat Room suggestion, but ya beat me too it, lol. Hopefully this will help get the ball rolling.

Indeed it is, and that is where the new and bigger chat room will be derived from. Testing is currently underway by the admins. Should have something released here in the next few days.
I suggest, for the suggestion box, that several people suggest a great suggestion for the name of the new chat room, then post those suggestions on a poll for everyone to vote to choose a cool name.....whew *catches breath*. I hope this post wasn't too suggestive.
Re: Name Of New Chat Room.... Here's one-
- Inner Sanctum-
Maybe we can brainstorm and come up with a bunch of cool names for the poll, then have all the members vote. That way we all are part of the process (good for troop morale).
I like Inner Sanctum....that's a winner for me
We now have a new board dedicated strictly to chitchat (aka- chat room). This new chat room is an expansion of our previously used chat feature known as a shout box. I looked into several chat room options, but none allowed for integration with our registered members and would have required members to sign in with new a user id, etc. Not having the integration would have created confusion and a cloak of anonymity to the user experience, so I decided to stick with what works.
The shout box has always been found on the main forum index page towards the top left. Having it there was convenient for members to view the current shouts at any time. Having a larger chat room at a dedicated chat board inside our forum prevents us from having the same visibility of the previous shout box. And it doesn't make sense to continue on with both chat features - at least I don't think so. You may also notice there's a new option enabled that allows members to see who's viewing a certain board at any given time. This was enabled so members can see who's inside the chat room and therefore might be willing to participate in the chat. You may find that option towards the bottom of the chat room message box. At the other boards that same option is found towards the top of the board.
A couple other things about chatting at UMA:
* guests may view a chat, but can't participate unless they register as an official member.
* chatting at UMA is subject to the same terms of service as any of our other boards. Flaming and spamming is NOT allowed. You will be banned for said violations! The chat room is moderated.
Finally, this chat feature is still in beta mode and is being refined for a better user experience. We are open to suggestions for improvements, so please feel free to comment with your input.
Link to chat room - http://www.universalmonsterarmy.com/forum/index.php?board=46.0 (http://www.universalmonsterarmy.com/forum/index.php?board=46.0)
I'm still exploring and developing a more refined chat room experience. Our current Shout Box chat feature isn't a true chat room in that it doesn't allow for instant refresh of incoming messages. The only way the Shout Box is refreshed is when you leave a certain page and then come back to it (or go to another). This is known as a "manual refresh." A true chat room shouldn't be dependent on performing manual refreshes of one's browser. True chat rooms should refresh with each incoming post.
Please feel free to explore an all new chat room that I'm currently developing for the UMA. It's still in beta mode, so please be patient as things change by the day.

It would be advantageous to have more than five entries in the RSS feed. With only five entries, you're bound to miss out on some items if you don't check the feed often enough.

Hi! :)
Love this site. I just want to give a shout out to UMA and thank them for such a great site!! I 've had several UMA memebers visit my site and suggest I link to your website for other future fans. I am an avid Mattel Thingmaker Collector and Topper Motorized Monster Collector. I also refurbish Vintage Sets and offer supplies for them. I would like permission to add a link from my site www.creeplepeeple.com (http://www.creeplepeeple.com) to the UMA site home page. I would also love to become an UMA Allie of your site if you would have me. Please let me know, Thanks John
I hereby suggest the BIG red "Welcome Monster Lover" on the header page be changed to "Velcome Monster Lover"!!!

Any thoughts for an Artwork category?
I do allot with photoshop (like recent 3D images) and usually just post in the Classic Universal section.
How about a separate section for photo-manipulations, drawings/paintings, colorizations, pastiches, and such?

I think it was moved from the old "Members Only" section.
I would like to see a Members Only section reinstated that allows any type of post. This would create a stronger sense of family, as we can vent our personal problems and have our UMA family help. For some this is the only family left. It can also be used to talk about non-monster stuff, personal dealings, and whatever else is on our mind.
I'd like to see a Birthday Section. Not just for members (which would be nice, since we do list birthdays at the bottom of the front page), but also for our beloved horror stars and filmmakers.
