Just wondering what everyone planned on doing for Halloween. Here's my plans. My family lives in the country in Mississipi, yeah we're rednecks, but my mother-in-law lives in town,so we head over there. My wife will take my nine year old trick-or-treating while me and my other boys get fixed up.This year we're going with a zombie theme, well except for Colby who insist on being Dracula(he really loved that film).Basically we turn my mother-in-laws house into....I guess you would call it a "haunted yard".haha.Basically we dress up and scare the older kids and kinda tone it down when the younger ones come around. Not to brag but I have gotten really good with that cheap makeup you buy at Wal-Mart and other stores.I can take that moldable "fake flesh"and make some wicked stuff.I'm kind of a redneck, ghetto Savini.haha.This year we built a coffin out of some plywood that Colby can come out of.It's gonna rock!
Anyway after the trick-or-treating we go to a drive-in.Yes we still have one,and at Halloween it is awesome.Every year they show a couple of horror movies and have guys dressed like Jason,Freddie, and Michael Myers run around and mess with people. It's really cool.I always slide those guys a few bucks just for doing it.I read in another thread that Holloween is kind of dying, but around here it's still a big deal.Anyway that's my plans, anyone else got any?
My wife has a costume party at work (winner takes away $500 smackers!), and then we're doing a costume party on halloween night itself. The following night, my wife and some freinds are having a day after halloween costume party.
This year we're going nuts doing ghostbusters. I've already snagged the military flight suits, boots, belts, and pack frames, and I've already made the Ray "goggles".
I'm in the middle of building the proton packs and guns now.
Here's a link to that wip thread elsewhere, if anyone's interested:

And just a link to the photobucket page for the raw images if you just want to look at wip pics.

Gareee, it looks as if your ready to kick some serious ghost a*s!
I will be taking the two boys around the neighborhood trick-or-treating. Dominick is going to be a ghoul while Vinnie is going to be playing it safe as Buzz Lightyear. Me? I'm going in a dress and high heels. NOT! Just kidding! That's too scary even for Halloween.
Thanks.. I'll tell ya, you put the suit on, the belt, the goggles, and pack frame, and you actually feel like a ghostbuster! (And no messy makeup to remove afterwards!)
I've tried to keep the packs as light as possible.. without the guns or frame, they weigh in at just under 10 pounds.. all the "pro" builders are amazed, but I'll tell ya, working with dense insulation foam is VERY easy.
I think once I have the guns completed, that the total pack weight will probably be around 15 pounds or so.. not really that bad a load at ALL!

Unfortunately I am stuck here in Iraq so I am afraid I won't get to do much if anything exciting this year. Worst part about it is I have a newly created Wolf Man costume all ready to go.
Of course, over here I am hoping I "don't" get to see anything truly gruesome, seen enough already.
I will be showing Bram Stokers Dracula and Dog Soldiers to the troops on Saturday Nov 1st for the Halloween Version of Fantasmo Iraq edition. I might lead off with an episode of the Munsters too as a bonus.
I hope everyone has a really great time, loads of fun and stay safe.
No man,YOU stay safe.I think that's awesome that your showing those films.Dog Soldiers is great. Thanks for putting your Halloween plans aside so we can safely go about ours.

In Iraq you say? Wow. I would think "nothing exciting" would be a very welcome change. Please stay safe Wolf Man, and thank you for all that you do!
I appreciate the sentiments but there really is no need to thank me. I am a Firefighter here and my job is to try and make it safer on the base than over the wire. We do quite a lot for fire prevention to keep our troops safer inside the wire. Sometimes not an easy job with all the explosives around. We have already lost three firefighters just from the base I am assigned. One right outside the Station bay doors. I have become used to the machine gun fire and the explosions that rock the building though, one actually almost shook me out of my bed. But as I always say, TII, this is Iraq. As part of my Fire Prevention Program I have taken advantage of a mostly empty movie theater and decided to help spread my Prevention message through our Creature Feature films. It gives me a captive audience so to speak. I also get the opportunity to provide the troops with some much needed entertainment and I give out door prizes of spooky movies on DVD. We make the most out of the situation and do our best to have some scary fun despite usually being in the dirt. So this forum and all you folks are giving me a little entertainment and fun for myself between duties. For this I thank you all.
I think it's great you can help relieve the stress by showing Creature Feature shows for the troups. I will be praying for the safety of you and the others. And thank YOU. I am proud to know you are a part of our UMA family, please return home safely.
WolfMan you have joined in to a very generous group. If there is something we can do to help you out while you're in Iraq, please let us know. I know the members will help in any way they can, especially if it means spreading the word on classic monster films.
We have sent monster care packages to a UMA member in Kosovo. He's throwing a Halloween party there. If you need something in Iraq, I'm sure we could put together some more care packages.
I have a great website with plans for all kinds of homemade props....drop me a line at mcintosh_jeff(*at*)yahoo.com if you'd like the link.

You all are too kind. I am pretty set here, I have my Wolf Man plush figure watching over me and lots of monster movies and music to help keep me sane.
If I think of anything the troops need I will pass it along. My wife has done an excellent job providing me with monster dvds and cds I give to the troops as door prizes for our Fantasmo Creature Feature movies. It means so much to the soldiers to get a little something over here since they have so little.
Thanks for being so kind, means a lot.
Wolf Man, my hat's off to you as well, and I also want to express support for all our troops overseas. I love the idea of putting together a UMA care package for our troops in Iraq!
My plans are simple this year. I don't get many trick-or-treaters in this apartment building, so I'm going to enjoy a quiet night that includes reading the Limited Collector's Edition of Ghosts (a DC treasury-sized comic). That's been a Halloween tradition for me for 30+ years. I also recently snagged an issue of Unexpected # 136 (a DC horror comic) that I've wanted since around 1971 and just finally found a few months ago. Been saving that one up! Also, DC Superstars #18 with Deadman and Phantom Stranger. Haven't read that since I lost my entire collection about 20 years ago. It has a Halloween theme. I've also put aside the Monster Who's Who hardcover book that I recently found at Half-Price Books. I'll probably read through that one each night for the next two weeks, finishing on Halloween.
Then there are the movies. I always watch Mad Monster Party (been doing that for 35+ years now), as well as the Paul Lynde Halloween Special. I ordered Beyond the Door (which I always wanted to see as a kid but never have to this day) and The Gorgon from the new Icons of Horror DVD.
That and a good dinner and huge chocolate dessert should make it a great Halloween!
Finally, I just got a copy of the Monsters Speak record on CD. Gonna listen to that going to bed.
The week of Halloween I'm going to see most of the movies playing at the Portage Theater here in Chicago. If anyone else is going, LMK!
First, I'd like to thank you for your service. I don't think you'll ever know just how appreciative we all are. Like these guys said, if there's ever anything that we can do to make your stay more tolerable please don't hesitate to ask. Stay safe and again, thank you.
Ah shucks, now I am blushing under all my fur.
I never would have thought about all my comics Mr. Barlow. I have some really good scary ones but always forget about them, they are kind of tucked away.
By the way, very cool avatar. Mr. Barlow scared the you know what out of me in Salem's Lot. Very creepy Vampire.
That is one Vampire I would not want to meet in a dark alley.
Oh, by the way, read my story in the next thread, you might find it interesting.
