Title: Does anyone on here watch the online soaps? Ladies, I'm talking to you ;)
Post by: Bonomo on May 22, 2013, 08:16:27 PM
I recently co starred on One Life To Live which is now an exclusively online show. Just wondering how/if the switch from the network has effected the shows fan base. Any watchers? Anyone?

I didn't know that they had online soaps.  I'll have to check out GH.

It's been many many years since I've seen OLTL .. I guess that Vicki Lord and Joe Reilly are gone.

I'm wrong .. I just checked and Erika Slezak is still around ... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Viki_Lord

I'll check it out sometime this week.

I also have not heard of online soaps. I have never watched soaps (my mom & grandmas did), but I am slightly ashamed to admit that when James Franco did his stint on one of the soaps, a couple years ago, I dvr-ed them and watched the storyline. Hahahaha! It was so weird! I didn't know ANY of the characters, but it didn't matter- you could just drop right in and figure out what was going on!
BTW- James Franco played a deranged artist named- Franco. It was awesome! I only watched it because my daughter forced me to -due to her admiration of- James Franco! hahahaha! I love saying that name! It delights me!
Had I known that one of our very own monster friends was on the show- I would have watched! Is it too late, Bonomo?
Are you still going to be a character? I will watch!

No it's not too late I just started filming on Monday, not even sure when it will be available to watch. I play Bobby the tattoo artist. Can't blame you for wanting to watch Franco, he's awesome.

I'm not a lady, but there was a time I watched a soap opera (besides Dark Shadows).  Early 80's - I worked as a bouncer/security at a nightclub 3 or 4 nights a week and 'rassled the other three.  So, I was out very late every evening, hitting the sack at 5 or 6 am.  Somehow - someway, I started watching General Hospital!  This was the Luke & Laura era.  I might as well been ironing or folding clothes or calling friends as I watched.  That might sound sexist, but it's how I remember my Mom spending her afternoons, juggling 4 or 5 soap operas while she worked - AND prepared supper!

Curses, General Hospital!  You sucked me in, dammit!  Thank goodness for SOAA (Soap Opera Addicts Anonymous).

I haven't watched General Hospital for a very long time and just read some 'spoilers' ... My head is still turning that Luke and Tracy could get together ... UGH .. I want Luke & Laura to live happily ever after and now Scotty Baldwin is in the picture too.

I also thought that Anna Devane and  Robert Scorpio were meant to be together.

My head is spinning with all the changes (Sonny and Brenda were a favorite of my Moms but I don't  mind Sonny and Alexis) but it's been too long since I've watched it or any other soap ...

I too curse you .. GH!

I had a brief period watching soaps, when I was serving in the military.  I had a three month period, in which I maintained the raquetball court.  Once I cleaned the place up, and it was quiet, I had time to watch daytime TV, and I was watching "General Hospital" and some other soaps, during the period when Luke and Laura were central characters on GH.  Once the duty ended though, I found myself watching them less and less.

That's crazy!  I don't feel so all alone, now.  Sorry about your leg, though  :).

LOL! I was a GH addict for years too. Started watching when I was in 5th grade or so (Luke and Laura era) and continiued more or less faithfully until the early 90s! I had a huge crush on Emma Samms back in the day!

Hot Guys.  ::)

Also, no one is ever REALLY dead .. they all return.  ;D

People have children that they forget about for twenty or more years .. very common ..  ;)

I also love (thinking of Another World) when the 'kids' go off to summer camp and return as doctors or medical interns. Or they just go off to nursery school and return at the end of the day as high school students.

Plus, they could make a scene that last 20 minutes, play out for a week!

Another soap reality is that  .. anyone could be your parent/sibling/child .. it changes all the time.

Thirty year old women often have twentysomething daughters and no one thinks that it's strange.

They are addicting.
