I had never seen this before. Does anyone know if this was the screen used Kong? Any additional info?
Monster Bob, is this in your collection?

Found more info here:
For its engagement at the Fox Pomona Theater in May 1933, "King Kong" was accompanied by an amazing prop: a life-sized prop from the movie of Kong's head, shoulders and chest.

That is awesome! Wonder whatever happened to the prop? I know they burned down the "King Kong" Skull Island wall for the burning of Atlanta in "Gone With the Wind."
That's AWESOME!
I'm gonna check E-bay right now!
This must be the prop Ray Harryhausen talks about seeing at the Grauman's Chinese Theater when he was a kid.
WOW!!!
TOO COOL!
Wonder if they had anyone there to work the mouth and eyes for photo ops? I would've wanted to take a picture getting chomped on!
I'd put him up on the roof! ;D
I misread this thread and thought it read Vintage Kong Theater Porno.. And I thought, What the-?
I was relieved to see no lascivious naked apes here, just this really cool ad prop.

I believe so.
Yeah, it sure looks like the screen-used prop. I can't imagine they'd create something like this just for theatrical promos. I wonder whatever happened to it?
Knowing California, lack of storage space, and left out to the elements until it was too late.
Beautiful piece. Kinda like the Jaws shark sitting atop the junkyard in So Cal currently, a shame.
Wow . . . speechless . . .

Again, really curious as to its eventual fate.
Edit: According to this article (http://www.fullyarticulated.com/page30/page36/page35/styled-15/) the original prop fell victim to improper storage and vandalism. A full-sized replica was created in 1983 for the film's 50th anniversary and displayed at Mann's Chinese Theater.
Wow, thanks for finding that!
The ultimate Kong Kollectible!
"Elmer the Great" was also released in 1933.
