Living Dead Dolls Presents Universal Monsters: Dracula
The children of the night...such music they make!- Dracula
Dracula; one of the first Universal Monsters, and hands down the most famous vampire of all time. The king of the vampires is the latest addition to the Living Dead Dolls line.
Damien Glonek, one of the trio who created the Living Dead Dolls says "Universal Monsters are the true foundation of the horror genre.  Each has become a recognized character to people of all ages from all over the world and still seem as popular today as when their movies first came out.  They have started out as Monsters and have become icons.  When the opportunity arose to work on the Universal Monsters I was very excited to give back to the genre that I love so much."
From his widow's peak to the hem of his cape, every detail of Dracula has been captured. The Count wears one of the most regal outfits ever produced for a Living Dead Doll; he comes complete with full evening dress, his trademark cape, his famous medallion, his red Carnelian stone ring, and even his watch chain, have been carefully recreated. Special attention has been paid to his hypnotic eyes; they seem to stare into your very soul as one eyebrow arches upwards, beckoning you to your doom.
Living Dead Dolls Count Dracula comes complete in a collector friendly window box featuring art from the famous film. He is available for pre-order online and will be in stores in October 2013.

Is this licensed by Lugosi?

By Universal.
Dracula with medallion, ring, and pointed widow's peak are Universal.

I thought so. I guess the blue eyes threw me off.

Usually, if the cape lining is gray, it's Lugosi. Universal's generic-style Dracula has the red-lined cape. But, this is only Universal licensed. Usually, the generic Dracula has red or green eyes. Guess Mezco didn't think that was cutesy enough. Notice the lack of fangs, too.

Though we did get blue eyes on the grave walker, which was interesting.

BTW, I love this.  It's probably my favorite Universal (non-Lugosi) Dracula item to come out since Sideshow's demise.

Me too. Very impressed with the tone of this figure. Obviously a doll with dollish overtones, but still serious enough to sustain the interest of a cantankerous old collector. Two thumbs up!

It kinda reminds me of those '60s Ideal Eddie Munster dolls. Also, love the rooted hair (I could brush it all day long).

As nice as it is, and as reasonable as the price is, it's just too cutesy for me. Plus, I know a certain line of custom collector figures that has plans to release a 12" Count Yorga soon, as well as an 8" Yorga, an 8" Janos Skorzany, an 8" Salem's Lot Barlow (Reggie Nadler), and an 8" Blacula. So, I'm gonna need that $25!!!

The Dracula LLD is a great looking piece. There was a black and white variant displayed at Toy Fair in February as well.

Heres a link to Mezco coverage on my blog with pix of Dracula and other Living Dead Dolls to come. Psycho prototypes included.

I like his expression. Captures the essence of the Lugosi/Universal character much better than most "serious" Dracula toys of the last couple decades.

Even Sideshow fell short when it came to Dracula. The 12" one was decent, but the 8" figure didn't quite get it. And the "premium" figure looked like Don Adams as Dracula.

Yes, that Premium Format Figure Dracula was waaaaay off.

I guess this  Mezco doll is supposed to capture Lugosi better than the far more accurate Sideshow figures. Not by a long shot! This is just a glorified kewpie doll with a generic widow's peak (the cliched widow's peak is far more loathsome than even the dreaded green Frankencoat). The only thing that is even remotely Lugosi-sh is the blueness of the eyes. The Sideshow 12" is far better than "decent". UMA member Monolith has posted pictures here that look just like movie stills. The 8" is by far the best of it's scale (kicking the crap out of the generic DST Retro and 7" versions, not to mention AHI, Remco and Mego figures). Vintage toy people always have to put down anything that remotely resembles the movie version because it's too "serious" (i.e. realistic) looking. I'm an original Monster Kid but I sure appreciate the vastly improved sculpts of modern toys. Even the flawed Dracula 1/4 scale is much better looking than any vintage Dracula I've ever seen.
