I know many here at the UMA, listen to different genres of music. Some of you listen to alternative bands. Since I couldn't list all the sub-genres of: Metal, Punk, Goth and so on. I would like to see some of your favorite alternative

Good list, but I wouldn't actually call any of those artists "alternative".

The Dead Boys from Cleveland were among my very favourite punk bands.
Dead Boys - Sonic Reducer (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mdu3EU6sbng#)
I saw them up close and personal performing live at the New Yorker Cinema on Yonge Street in 1977. I'm not sure I'm entirely over the experience even now.

Well, I guess that the only alt bands that I listen to would be the
Nine Inch Nails and
Machines of Loving Grace. The latter broke up several years ago, much to my dismay.

All good and great bands. But.......this thread is geared towards alternative music. When I posted this thread, I almost
had reservations about including, Metal. I actually wanted to see how many Punk, Goth and Alternative fans there are at the good old UMA. Then I thought, what about Glam, Ska,.Rockabilly and so-on? Maybe the next thread, the question will be.......Who's you favorite classic country singer? Mine would be Buck Owens and Johnny Cash. : )

Another excellent choice, Hepcat. Although I have never witnessed the power of the Dead Boys,.I have seen
Cheetah Chrome perform Dead Boys' songs. The Dead Boys were the epitome of PUNK ROCK. I wish more
People knew about their amazing music and presence. Very underrated.

Another band that epitomized punk was the Damned:

The Damned burst onto the British punk scene very early on, before even the Sex Pistols.

I was born and raised in NYC .. since moved. There are or I should say were two Rockabilly bands called the Razorbacks. One band is in the tri-state area and is still active, the other one was a Canadian band which put out two albums and toured Europe as well as North America.

Young Loud and Snotty was produced by Genya Ravan a.k.a. Goldie Zelkowitz former lead singer of The Escorts, Goldie & the Gingerbreads, and Ten Wheel Drive.
I don't listen to too much metal anymore....except for my theme song - To Mega Therion (hahahaha)
But I heart most of the music genres listed.
I really really love- Social D., Op. Ivy, Rancid & all spin off bands, Necromantix, Guttermouth, NUFAN (RIP Tony Sly), Lagwagon, NOFX, the Vandals, Minor Threat, DKM, Black Flag, Tiger Army, MCR.
My go-to cd in the car is The Ataris- So Long Astoria :)
This punk band from Hamilton was hardcore and had an ardent following in its day:

I like almost anything but my favorites as of late are The Animals,Fu-Manchu, Kyuss, The Zombies.
I don't know about the other two, but neither the Animals nor the Zombies fit into any of the Metal, Punk, New Wave, Surf, Rockabilly, Ska or Goth categories. Good they were; alternative they were not.

You are correct, sir. ;D I definitely don't consider the Animals nor the Zombies alternative. But..... I must add, awesome groups. As for Fu-Manchu and Kyuss, very metal.
Stiff Little Fingers - Suspect Device (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sKsN5cj9ehs#ws)
Charles Caldwell - Remember Me (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=952gpmlZuJY#)
Oh man, great stuff! Charles Caldwell and a lot of the other Fat Possum artists are so alternative that even fans of alternative think they're really obscure acts!

on as a certain genre cause its mixed. Like Tool, Deftones ect.
Hope I am answering the question correctly.
