One of the last places left in Hollywood from the old days is Larry Edmunds bookshop on Hollywood Boulevard. I was first there as a kid in 1974 and I still try and make it as often as possible. There is no place in LA that still pays tribute to the Universal Monsters in its windows like this. The inside also hasn't changed in forever - its packed full of books, posters and stills from all the classic films.
Like many places from the golden era, this store is in need of more customers to last. I hope if you live in Los Angeles or come to visit you stop by there and buy something. There is always something for the monster lover to be found! When this place goes, an era will die...

Man! That looks like the place to be!
Oh, man, yeah. I don't get out that way much, but I have visited the store a couple of times and it's really nice. There's a great (and large) old-school toy and magic store nearby, too.
Great store. When I was working at the HollyWood Wax Museum I use to buy alot of reference photos from them when we needed research for the figures.
I would put visiting there on my bucket list, but first I need to make the billionnaire friend like Jack Nicholson. Plus, so far, my bucket list reads: "Come back from dead as vampire -- DO NOT SPARKLE!"
That place is close to my hometown but now I am stuck across the other side of the country. If we had a place like that up here I would make a weekly trip and that guy wouldn't have to worry about going out of business. Does he advertise on the internet? That would be a way to keep revenue flowing.
Nancy and I hit that place every time we get to LA. Fabulous place!!

I stop by there anytime I'm driving through Hollywood. Great place to visit (and shop). Not to far from there is the Hollywood Toy and Costume Shop. It used to be a great place for masks, kits, and toys but the last time I was there, it seemed to be on its last legs.
Looks like a fabulous place. I'll have to try to stop there the next time I am in the southland.
Everytime I visit Hollywood, I always shop and buy the coolest stuff. Last time I found a Creature from the Black Lagoon poster and a couple of photo books. The place is movie heaven.
That is one of my favorite store in all of LA! Every time I go out there I always make a point of going there. That has to be one of the best book stores in the country!
