Title: M U N S T E R ( Marilyn vs. Marilyn )
Post by: marsattacks666 on January 03, 2013, 04:13:27 PM
Alrighty Munster(s) fans and enthusiasts. The question is.........which Marilyn Munster do.you prefer? Actually, the actress potraying Marilyn? Beverley Owen or Pat Priest?  I do realize, Beverley Owen only acted in fifteen episodes.
But she was still  integral to the show. Regardless of longevity.  In my opinion, both Owen and Priest brought something different to the Marilyn Munster character.

Owen seemed a little quirky, naive, but.....sweet . Maybe....because Owen didn't want to pursue or continue the role?
I honestly believe had she enjoyed her role as Marilyn, she would have been the better of the two. With continued development. But.....who knows?

Priest. While I do like her as.the second Marilyn. She is my least favorite. Her acting is way too deadpan....( extremely impassive). But, Priest was by far the sexiest. Again, both actresses played the role differently. My vote goes to Beverley Owen.

Pat Priest. Yes, she was deadpan but the producers probably didn't want her character to overshadow Lily or the other family members, so hence she was good for the role.
She was the ultimate anti- Munster for the 1960's  :)

Just My opinion ;)

I didn't forget her. She was very pretty. But.......it's really about who was the best, Owen or Priest?

I say Pat Priest.  She's the one I'll always remember as Marilyn.

My favorite I would say was Pat Priest...BUT!!! After I met her in person last October and seeing how arrogant she is. I have to say that after I payed her $25.00 for an autograph and seeing how she was treating her fans threatening to call security for anybody taking her picture. I went up to her and said to her that it was a shame that she was part of the Munsters that with her attitude she almost made me hate my favorite show. I also said to her that her mom being the United States treasurer under a past US President does not make her unique in any way. After screaming at this older man who took a picture of her as she warned him that she better not see her face on facebook.  My friend who is a lawyer said to her its nice coming to a convention and taking money from the poor fans who adore you, but with an attitude like that and not wanting her picture taken she should of have stayed home. I just took my camera with the flash on took her picture and said to her go ahead call security if you want...I payed $25.00 to be here and it was my right...Since she was such a moron I lost all my respect for her!!! All the actors I have met in the last 9 years of attending Chiller twice a year that are jerks have been.. Pewee Herman, The Black guy from the warriors, the actress forgot her name she did the horror flick the Birds, and Pat Priest...And a new one to add to the list Lee Majors.(My childhood Idle) not a bad guy but was charging a wooping $90.00 for an autograph plus picture. And when he shook your hand did not even look at you..Real JERK! I should of have saved my money!

My Choice!!!   Beverley Owen

In all seriousness, Beverly Owen had personal issues with her life, and really didn't want the part, and was glad to be released.  Pat Priest took on the role, and I think it was unjust of Universal to replace her for the feature film, since she wished to continue the role.  I can't say that I have a favorite, since either did well for a role, which honestly was underwritten.

Houseof.......

Sorry that happened to you. I've been where you have, in meeting actors that I have admired. Especially
at Horror cons. The experience hasn't always been a pleasant one.

I feel bad for what you expoerienced from Beverly Owens.  Those stars who are only at the conventions to make a quick buck, while disrespecting the people who pay to see them there, are not doing themselves or their fans any favoirs.

My fav will always be Beverly Owen, even though her time on the show was short lived.

This is indeed disheartening. I've shared a similar story about Linda (Nova) Harrison of POTA

If anyone has seen the movie "Galaxy Quest", these  sour grapes remind me of Alan Rickman's character.  They aspired to greatness, and yet the only thing they seemed to be remebered for, is something they have little regard for.  So I guess, some of them take it out on their fans.  Max Baer of "The beverly Hillbillies", for years had trouble with the idea that people only wanted to remember him as "Jethro".  Later on, when he was able to be successful in other shows, he was able to accept the popularity of his character in a positive way.
