The month of October should be declaired as horror month. AMC should show all the classics from the 30's through the 60's. They should show movies in primetime all week long, and on saturdays. But AMC only shows the long, over rated seguels of Friday the 13th, and Halloween movies, back to back to back. Iam so tired of seeing these same movies all week long.
If i was in charge of programming, i wouldnt even show these movies in the month of Oct. Because their played so much every year. I would only show the true horror classics, uh hint, AMC stands for AMERICAN MOVIE CLASSICS, not reruns from the 80's & 90's.
I don't understand why you had to go on this same rant in my topic which had nothing to do with it. Yeah, their lineup is terrible, but movies are hardly their focus, which is why AMC is no longer American Movie Classics. Just AMC. They focus mostly on dramatic TV (which they are damn good at, I might add).

^This. AMC's movies are a lot more recent. TCM is the "classic" stuff you're looking for.

TheWolfman. You have every reason to RANT. Unfortuately
AMC has pretty much had the same schedule for October/
Hallowe'en as long as I can remember. With the occasional
modern Horror film slipped-in.
But again, that is why the good folks at TCM are there for.
To show great classics.

A very good friend of mine used to be in the Programming Dept. at Syfy (back when it was still the Sci-Fi Channel). He's a huge sci-fi/horror buff, and has been there since they first went on the air. The things we want to see on TV are the same things he wants to put on for us. Unfortunately, those films and shows don't get ratings. Sad, but true. And, AMC is in the same boat. They have to program what gets ratings. I'm not happy about it, either, but I understand why it happens. My friend was happy when he finally got out of programming and into acquisitions.
Plus, don't most of us already have these classic films in our libraries?

Here it is, the article that several of you helped contribute to! I should note that this article draws from the opinions of members of this board, plus college students and may not be reflective of my own opinions, per say.
First and foremost, here is the much shortened version that ran in the newspaper:
http://mercercluster.com/?p=8888 (http://mercercluster.com/?p=8888)
I know the editor went with the title she did because of the alliteration, but considering films like Nosferatu are on the list, its not very Hollywood. Anyways, here is the full article in all of its GORY! Enjoy!

Yes, yes! Plus, Large Marge is pretty scary.

Even though we may have the classics in our libraries, it is still cool to catch them on TV at times.
TCM has been pretty good on their classic horror programming, but I still want more. I caught some of Dracula, Prince of Darkness this morning on TCM eating cereal with my daughter, she kept asking "what's that?" whenever the music got loud, and I kept saying "it's a Halloween Dracula movie".
She would crack up laughing, then start naming the other Halloween monsters we have up: Halloween Skeleton, Evil Witch, Halloween pumpkins, Frankenstein, Halloween ghost etc. A proud Daddy.

Yes, it is, I won't argue that. But, viewing tastes have changed. Not necessarily for the better, but they've changed nonetheless. I expect future generations will look back with great fondness on such fare as "A Scary Honey Boo Boo 'Ween"! Zombie Roll Eyes

Now that is far more terrifying than ANY horror movie ever made!!
I understand Honey Boo Boo's mother is a failed experiment, where a mad scientist replaced her head with an enlarged thumb.

Until recently I had no knowledge of Honey Boo Boo. Then one day I hurt my back and my Dr gave me painkillers and told me to go lay down all day. I lay on the floor of the living room (it was more comfortable for my back) with my blind dog eating pizza and goldfish crackers and watching HBB in a drug addled stupor. I didn't know the Mother was an extreme couponer so I couldn't figure out why they had shelves of toothpaste and icing and other stuff. It was all very disturbing.

After eating all that sugary icing, it's important to brush your "teefs" when you're stuffing your brat into a competitive bathing suit she outgrew before they even left Wal*Mart.(http://www.blog.thehoya.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/10/Honey-Boo-Boo.jpg)
Now I arm scared!
My Wife and I were talking about this the other day. I guess the Friday the 13th movies must be pretty cheap to get the broadcast rights to. Its a shame because originally it was Monsterfest and I seem to remember them having more variety in the movies.
Too bad TCM seems to only run the Universal stuff in the middle of the night. I know tonight its prime time but usually it seems to be much later.

Don't worry, they'll always be Monster Truck Rally's. And if you wish real hard, maybe you'll be able to go to one where Honey BooBoo and her mother are honored guests! :P
