What candy and other treats do you usually distribute on Halloween? Do you plan on any changes this year? Have any of your favourites disappeared?

???
We like to have a bit of the traditional stuff, and being a teacher, the wife also has Halloween themed pencils and erasers, but we have a good supply of regular sized Candy bars for the really excellent costumes
I save the chocolate mini bars for kids in costumes, bubble gum for those who don't even try.
I do Treat bags .. I haven't thought it out yet and will wait for the sales .. I like to include some sort of chocolate bars and the other insists on gum and then we add to it. I'm thinking of asking one of my favorite four year olds what he likes to receive on Halloween.
We normally get between 25 and 50 kids, so I do around 50 Treat bags and have extras stuff ready to put together more bags in a hurry but it hasn't come to that so far.
I like to give candy bars, snickers, kit kats, 3 muskateers, stuff like that. That's the candy I prefered when I was young, and that's what I give out. Plus, I get to eat what's left at the end. ;D
A friend of mine does a really nice treat bag, including eyeballs of some sort and other spooky candy. She picked up her mini chocolate bars a week or so ago and had already eaten half the bag of 90 ... That's one reason why I wait for close to Halloween .... ;D
Myself though I'll be out trick or treating. There's no way I'll pass up on getting my share of the loot!

The MAN, however, used to dole out one of the small bags of Humpty Dumpty Potato Chips that were sold in Halloween boxes of 25:
He switched to Cheetos when the Humpty Dumpty name brand disappeared in 2006:
In addition, he's been giving out Halloween boodle bags with at least three of the following items:
(http://i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Balticprince/General%20Album%202/Dubble-Bubble.gif) (http://i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Balticprince/General%20Album%202/Dubble.jpg)

This year though he's leaning toward skipping the Cheetos and putting together more elaborate boodle bags with about six of the above items depending upon what can be bought at the best price. Since he always waits until right before Halloween because he doesn't trust me not to eat all the candy, I can't yet tell you what the precise contents of the boodle bag will be. All I can say is that I'll quickly devour whatever he doesn't give out to the little urchins. It's what I do.

There's a Catnip mouse with your name on it, if the Man's Double Bubble and Rain-Blo stash end up at my house. >:D
Picked up 3 boxes of assorted chips at Costco. 54 bags each, hope there are some left over for me.

Last year I gave out razor blades. This year it's going to be needles.
Kidding!

You'd need really sensitive equipment to detect the degree to which I'm laughing...
I try to have a mix, some expensive stuff for the first people who get out there and participate, some really expensive stuff for the ones with the serious costumes.....and yeah, bubble gum and other cheapies for the ones who don't try. And no ones gets anything until they say "Trick or Treat"! If they just hold their bag out but don't say the words, that's NOT GOOD ENOUGH. ;)
Mom bought three bags of assorted candy last year and we didn't get a single trick-or-treater. I'll get one bag, and if anyone shows, I'll be shocked!
We did get some new neighbors with small children since last year, though. Maybe I'll knock on their door and ask them if they'll be taking the kids out trick-or-treating.
Most little kids are at the mercy of their parents and their parent's budgets and imaginations when it comes to costumes .. I give everyone the same treat bag ... When I was giving out single pieces of candy, I would give the kids that I knew more candy or if I had lots of candy and it was getting late, I would distribute more.
I have to laugh because a few years ago, we weren't getting many trick or treaters (most of my neighbors enjoy Halloween) and it was getting late and my friend across the street came out and started screaming to her other to give everyone two or three treat bags as she didn't want to get stuck will all that candy.
We do treat bags. ALways a small halloween toy and some candy. SOme times comic cards mixed in.
We start buying candy early in October because we have 100-150 tricks or treaters and I get whatever bags Target has on sale, and the largest bags at Sam's Club. I also do treat bags with at least 7 or 8 pieces inside. We have such a crazy night- we have to have pre-made bags.
I tend to stick with the Hersheys, Nestles, M&M/Mars candy because they are usually on sale. I can no longer buy Twizzlers because I am powerless against them and will eat them until they are gone. I also buy Laffy Taffy and Airheads because they are light and easy to slide into the treat sacks.
I will probably try to close up shop next Halloween and trick or treat at Hepcat's house! Those are some sweeeet looking treats! I will bring several different masks and ring his doorbell many times as many different people.....yes.

We'll be finalizing the contents of this year's boodle bags in a week's time. There are just too many cool candies from which to choose!

Depends upon what kind of bubble gum he buys. If it's the Rain-Blo or these:
No way. I'd need a much better offer. But if he buys the newfangled kind of Dubble Bubble in the yellow twist wraps or something like Bubble Yum, maybe, maybe....
;)
Something chocolate, so leftovers get eaten
The past 6 years we've lived in the country and have had no trick r treaters, but back in the early 200s we lived in a village and had many. I made treat bags with various chocolates and one year I bought a ton of dollar store classic horror dvds and packed them in bags with candy. Hopefully I created some interets in good monster movies that year.
We start planning as early as possible. This year it's spooky specs and puzzle books as well as the usual chocolate candy bars and Sour Patch kids. I put them in clear bags so the parents can see what the kid is getting. This year I decided to experiment a bit with various cookies (individually wrapped packages from the store!). I shy away from suckers as much as I can because some kids stick the candy in their mouths before they even leave my yard and I don't want any kids falling and getting hurt with a sucker in their mouths.
We have a mix of fun size Snickers, peanut M&M's, peanut butter M&M's, Reese's and peanut butter Snickers.
Baron- I just know you're hoping to have some left over candy tomorrow night :) YUM!

"What candy and other treats do you distribute on Halloween?"
As little as possible, that way I end up with it all at the end of the night without even having to Trick or Treat! >:D
We usually buy a plethora of mini-candy bars; Snickers, Milky Ways, Butter Cups, 100 Grand, Kit Kat, Twix, 3 Muskateers, etc. Trick or treaters get 2 of those and then a few Dum Dums, Licorice sticks, Tootsie Rolls, Jolly Ranches, Starburst or other candies like that! We never know if it is going to be a ton of kids or only a handful so the later you come the more you end up getting in most cases!
Hepcat!
Did Cowboy leave you any Oh Henrys? It looks like they are his favorites.
It doesn't look good. I'm running right down on Oh Henry bars.
>:(
For the benefit of the Americans on this forum, I should point out that Canadian Oh Henry chocolate bars are far superior to those currently being sold in the States which have been cheapened since Nestle acquired the Oh Henry name brand in the States. The bar on the left is the current U.S. version while the one on the right is the Canadian version:
The existence of Sweet Marie in Canada serves to keep the makers of Oh Henry honest:
If the penny pinchers in the accounting department cheapened the Oh Henry bar in Canada, customers would eat Sweet Marie for lunch!
;)
I'm still working on the candy:

We do a lot of Fun Size candies. Snickers, Milky Way, Three Muskateers. The small Kit Kats. Skittles packets. The small Hershey bars, Nestle Crunch, single Reeses Cups.

The same here. That way, if there is any leftovers, the hired help (meaning me), gets a little Halloween treat too.
For the past three years we made up gender specific Halloween treat bags by adding plastic dinosaurs to the boys' bags and plastic unicorns or winged horses to the girls' bags.

This year to each trick or treatster we gave out one small bag of Cheetos:
A mini Reese Peanut Butter Cup:
And two mini Tootsie Pops left over from 2014(?):
The reason we still had them is because they were either chocolate or raspberry which are the two flavours of Tootsie Pops that I don't much like.
Since we got only 28 trick or treatsters this year, we didn't need to give out any of the mini Oh Henry bars which of course I'll now devour.

I'd originally planned to pick up a bag of Leaf Rain-Blo gum as well. I was waiting for a big last minute sale at Shoppers Drug Mart though but the bags had only been marked down a paltry $0.50 to $5.49 late this afternoon so I passed on the Rain-Blo this year.
The big last minute discounting of Halloween candy that we all so liked seems to have died right down since Zellers was bought out by Target in 2012 Very annoying. Oh well. I'll check Shoppers and Rexall Drugs for deals on potato chips and bubble gum tomorrow.

Hmmmmm. A remarkable paucity of candy tales on a forum ostensibly frequented by monster kids.

I'll give em a treat! When the candy starts to run low I'm going to the mask hall-tree....put one of these on and give em 6'7" of "Get off my porch! The last of the candy is mine! All mine!".....see how they like that treat.....mess with me.....ha!

That's great. I think I'm going to intersperse some little goodies like that in with the candy. Then see what the kids do with that.
