Just heard this while watching the TV box! Sunday at 9PM EST. Merle is back!
I luv this show and am so looking foward to it!

I started watching the marathon a while ago. I came in on the first episode of S2. Don't think I'll make it to the end, though.
Can't wait to see this on Sunday nights.
Huge Walking Dead promo/display in Toronto, apparently they remove a finger everyday!

Wow! Glad I saw this thread, I had no idea!!!
Ok, the complete season 2's Blu-ray screwdriver thru the eye zombie bust was pretty cool....

but the complete season 3's governor trophies is freakin' awesome!!

I may have to collect this series on Blu-ray...luckily I haven't bought any seasons yet....unlucky season 2's bust is a little pricey!!
This coming Thursday...they are showing the series in B&W...starting with episode 1.
My favorite show. Somebody's got to kill that governor though (Merle?)
Am I the only one who considers this show as, "meh"? I love the zombies, but that's about it. I am not invested in the characters, I think a lot of the acting is dreadful and the story is not very compelling. The Governor is quite possibly the worst character in the show and that is saying a lot. But don't get me wrong, the make up and sets are great. Love the gore!
Based on the ratings, I guess I am alone in this argument. Not the first time I wondered what the hell the rest of the world was thinking...

Worst show I've ever seen
This is the stupidest show I have ever seen. If you would like to start watching it, I would not recommend it. Any show is better than this crap.

I can't believe the number of sheep who lap up this garbage with zeal. I've come to the conclusion that the writers haven't yet let us in on the survivors' ultimate plan: bore the zombies death by spending two-thirds of every episode discussing their feelings.

Are you people on crack? Some of the worst acting I have ever seen, including one of the worst shows. Is this show a comedy? 'What would happen if Zombies took over the world, leaving nothing but white trash behind?" Seriously. W.T.F.

I had high hopes, but the characters are just too stupid to root for. The only time these slow moving zombies would be a threat is when you're trapped by them. So once they showed people having access to vehicles all danger has to be manufactured by dumb plot devices (imitating zombies to sneak by), or stupid character decisions (riding a freakin' horse). The only way this series would've worked would be with 28 Days Later fast moving zombies. Damn, it looked so cool in the previews.

It amazes me that american t.v. continues to create weak and over dramatised rubbish that idiots rate as positive. This show promises so much but delivers a lot of disappointment. The characters are so annoying that the show leaves you wanting them to be eaten just to save the world before they breed. Love the zombies, but hate the imbeciles this series is based around. Producers of t.v. need better writers.

Points for production values; the elaborate city scenes were convincing, grand, and well-choreographed. The cinematography was quite good, especially the tense opening sequence which had some beautiful long takes. But I was unable to give a **** about any character (except the poor horse). The acting fit the parts well enough, but these characters feel so recycled and ordinary that they're unreal. You really sense the writers trying to tug our heart-strings -- the manipulative plotting left me cold. It's a low-grade melodrama that fails to address any substantive social issues (unlike the excellent 28 Days Later). There was definitely some excitement in the long city sequence, in a survival-horror kind of way. If the characters weren't so hollow, and the dialogue so canned, the action sequences would have some weight behind them. Walking Dead gives the impression of a totally insincere, mass-market cash-grab made to capitalize on the zombie fad.

Fans of the comic book and first-rate psycho-horror may form a large enough audience to make this a hit. Those not in those groups may want to start by taking a deep breath.

these two sum it up quite well! listen, i still grudgingly watch this show on a random night when i have nothing better to do. i do enjoy the black and white episodes that are being replayed.
SPOILER -
but i really didn't care when son killed mother after giving birth. that should have been an emotional moment, right? this coming from a guy who cries at SPCA commercials...
im just saying, i dont want to settle for my horror. i still hold hollywood accountable for proper acting and story lines. at least walking dead is not as bad as LOST was. how can it take 3 episodes to decide whether or not to open a frigging door!?!?!

I watched the show sometimes, I have been reading the walking dead comics and they are way better than the show
I enjoy the show and watched from the beginning. I don't like the Governor and I hope he gets his.
Last nite's (02-24-13) show was pretty poor, very boring. Need's to pick up the pace.
I like the show. It isnt anymore boring or the charcters any more or less likeable than any Romero zombie movie imho. The comics the show is based off of aren't for me at all.

This show for all intents and purposes is a drama, the turmoil in the group and the hostilities between other groups is the primary focus (And I assume that to be true even in the comics?)! I don't get when folks say a particular episode was boring?! If you want nonstop zombies go watch a movie that attempts to cram in as much zombies as possible during its runtime! In all fairness I've not yet seen last nights episode but I know many complained about the mid-season opener being boring?!

How can you say "i don't get when folks say a particular episode was boring?" when you didn't bother to watch the episode I'm refering to? All I said is that it was boring (not the entire series) and I never said that I wanted to watch "nonstop zombies" and for it being a "drama" well that's your opinion.
In regards to the previousous episodes, I found them very entertaining and I am a big fan of the show and look forward to the next show.
Anton, I don't find any of the characters boring, annoying sometimes (like Shane and Rick's forced southern accents).

How can you say "i don't get when folks say a particular episode was boring?" when you didn't bother to watch the episode I'm refering to?
I can say that because....I don't get it when people say a particular episode was boring.....that is why I can say that! I'll probably be catching up with that episode tonight, I'll report back on the boredom level! As far as my "opinion" of it being a drama, the zombie genre more than any other horror genre is all about drama! The undead are a secondary antagonist in any given zombie film with the primary focus being on tension between groups of humans or the relationships between individuals within a given group! Hostility, friendships, love, angst, character development (good guys going bad, bad guys going good), family (or extended family as it were) and survival all play a larger role than the zombies do even though they (the zombies) are the catalyst that started it all. I would place something like the Resident Evil franchise into more of a horror (also action/sci-fi) category than I would most zombie films, there are the dramatic elements found in other zombie flicks but more emphasis is placed on what the new creature is going to be coming around the next corner!
Maybe if you can expound on what you found so boring about the episode it'll provide some better insight!?
Also forgot to add....Can a mod move this to the television forum?!
What I find boring may not be to others. Being bored is relative and measurable from individual to individual. My daily acitvities are typically exciting and occasionally somewhat dangerous.
Don't get me wrong Z.H., I do like the character developement but I (that's me, no one else except maybe Mike Scott) do like more action from something titled "The Walking Dead".
I thought this single episode was slow paced compared to all of the others. There, I've expounded and I hope you get it.
The previews for next week ,in case you watch them, look more promising, in my opinion, no one elses.

Sure, sure, there are plenty of others that want more bang-bang shoot em' up and zombie munching than they want character/plot development (even if they don't mind it) but again that isn't what this show is going to focus on. And keep in mind they are somewhat paralleling an established timeline/story. I didn't mean to single you out, as I mentioned plenty of others have noted being bored of a particular episode...I just don't get it!? A big part, and again pretty much the main focus, of the show is the characters and their relationships.....actually back in the day they would have called this show a primetime soap opera (now they just call all of them dramas)! :o I can see there being slower episodes when compared to others but being letdown or bored by them?! I can't see that, maybe some folks should wait for Walking Dead the movie and skip the show!

The previews look good. Getting their vehicle stuck in the mud with all those walkers around looked pretty intense.

Well the comic is on issue 107 but I suppose it all depends on how quickly they go thru that material or how quickly audiences lose interest! Also the show is creating it's own identity adding characters and changing scenarios from the comic somewhat. My guess is the show will last around 6 seasons (8 tops) but who knows in the end!? It is only a matter of time before money becomes a big factor for AMC to continue the series especially the longer a cast member last from season to season.....the good thing there....the greedy ones can always be killed off!!

Featuring zombies with the runs would almost certainly guarantee the SHOW would quickly be DEAD. Zombie Censored Zombie Blush Zombie Grin. Seriously though, I really like The Walking Dead show. There is much drama, but there just about has to be. If the story wasn't focused on the human survivors the viewers would have nobody to identify with. Beginning to end action and gore would quickly wear thin. Plot builds to climax. Basic storytelling.
Tonight's episode was the best yet. No Governor to be seen!
i like the show but the music on there lately i think has ruined the tone and seems to be becoming a trend.
Wow, Morgan. That's a shame.
I thought is was a great episode. With you smegs, glad there was no governer. I will be glad when he is out of the picture.
Wow! I always wondered what happened to Morgan and his son. Now I know! And yes, a break from the Gov. was a nice bonus. Good episode!
Seriously? This show gets worse and worse week after week. The Governor is such a ridiculous character. What is with the whistling all of a sudden? Maybe next week he will start to tap dance in a creepy style.
I struggle to find aspects of the show that I still enjoy. The so called drama is just terrible acting, plain and simple. The only time zombies appear is to get a character to move on to the next drawn out conversation or stalemate. I watch this show just out of amusement and hope that every now and then I will see a cool zombie death.
If anyone else shares my sentiment regarding this terrible, terrible excuse for a show then I recommend you follow The Mocking Dead on Twitter. They do a live tweet during the show that is pretty damn hilarious.
This show is almost as bad as the Talking Dead.

Seriously though I just don't know what people are expecting from a zombie tv show!? Personally I don't find the acting bad (and I've seen my share of bad acting!!) and although I may not like every single character or I may find some dialog hokey or whatever, I still look forward to the show!! Only 2 episodes left this season!
I don't see the show going anywhere in the next few years so you'd better make your exit now instead of wasting your time! Maybe put in your favorite zombie movies instead of watching The Walking Dead!

The Governor is a good character. I think killing him off would be a mistake.
Think about this...
Enough people talk and begin to put doubt in the Governor that is position is not as secure as it once was, but there are still those who are loyal to him in the town. In the showdown, Rick and his people, along with those in the town who doubt the Gov, over throw him and put Rick in charge. Darryl looses the Gov as he runs and does not get to kill him.
The next season is Rick solidifing is position, looking for those in the town still loyal to the Gov and looking to put him back in power. Making sure the Gov, who is still lurking around, doesn't make his way back in, and keeping Darryl from getting himself killed while searching outside the walls looking for the Gov.
I think this is much better!!

I really don't see Rick wanting to be in charge of a large group of people...he just told the current group that everyone's entitled to a vote in the decision making process and ; ''I'm not your Governor.'' I'm really hoping they take the Governor out via Darryl this season and NOT make it a cliff hanger we have to wait until the next season to see.

Andrea is beyond annoying. She should really be killed. Why Andrea is still around is a mystery?
"You kill or you die, or you die and you kill." LOL
Some people got their wish, others didn't...
183 days til the start of season four!
Felt very cheated. No closure. Compared to some of the other episodes this season, which were fantastic, this one was kinda lame. I guess they've managed to sign David Morrissey for another season.
Well.... I got my Andrea wish, sort of.
Yeah, i found the whole thing kind of anti climactic. The ''prison raid '' was just plain sad. Wasn't surprised they took out Andrea, although i liked her character and was sorry to see her go. The previous episode with the death of Merle was way better. I guess what got me the most was the mind numbing amount of commercials we were assaulted with. They really should make the episodes longer, although that would also include MORE commercials. Still looking forward to season 4...

Just you and the Governor!
Damn! How many 1st season cast members are left? I count 5!
I'm glad the Governor is still around, I think he'll be a great villain for a year or two. He definitely needs to learn to relax. I liked the prison raid. Rick and his people couldn't win a long battle and had to end it fast. And they used the Gov's favorite weapon--walkers--to reduce the numbers and panic the rest. I think with them in the jail and with the lessons they learned from the Governor, that could be a very solid stronghold.
It started well but soon dissolved into yet another pointless episode. They built this whole season around giving us a big showdown which never materialized. The Governor rides off, certainly to appear again, as apparently they couldn't come up with anything better for the next season. Completely unsatisfactory. Between this, the terrible arc for Andrea, and Rick's awful insanity bit, I'm done with this show. I don't think the writers have any idea what sort of story they want to tell or what to do with the characters.
I agree.
The prison raid was lame. All that build up....
Then the Gov shot everyone and no one raised up. Afterwards, Martinez and the Black dude just got back in the truck with him. Really man?
Andrea having a conversation with Milton just hanging out while he was about to turn?
Overall, it was a weak season finale.
Finally some sanity! I still watch because my wife and I have a good laugh. The Governor always makes us LOL.
No, i'm not down on the series for the same reasons as you...The finale was the first time in a while that i've been disappointed with the show. There have been times in the past when i wasn't nuts about a particular episode, but this was the first time for me that a finale fell short. They should have went with Merle's death and Zombification as the last image we were left with...
Everybody expected this whole showdown between the prison and Woodbury and it is only that expectation that failed!! It would have been completely and utterly unbelievable to have Rick and the others win in any kind of real fight against the Governor and his townsfolk....what the heck could they have done against Martinez and his grenade launcher?! They (and all the fans knew) that Rick's group was going to be so under equipped for this fight that it would have made no sense whatsoever for them to try to have a 1 on 1 fire fight!
Carl and Hershel (especially Hershel) failed on only one point, they never told the kid to stop immediately and place the gun down after the first time! Any police officer would have shot a suspect that kept slowly moving toward them while still armed......hell even unarmed some police would shoot a suspect moving toward them.
Andrea casually bullsh*tting with Milton was the wrong way to go with that scene...or at least to not have her trying to get the pliers the whole time! Thinking back on Andrea's character I find it interesting that Dale pushed to save her from suicide to begin (after the death of her sister) with and then she puts a bullet thru her head in the end anyway. Also I don't think there would be one moment during the group's story that she actually contributed all that much to-to make a difference whether she was there or not!
The two "heavies" getting back in the truck and going on is not unexpected, they have been two of the Governor's main accomplices, killing innocent people from the get go. They also more than likely didn't have a strong connection to the folks of Woodbury as they were either defending the wall all the time, interrogating prisoners, corralling walkers or otherwise killing and looting outside the walls for the Governor. Now if they don't show these two discussing the Governor being completely insane and possibly talking about offing him next season then yah, it'll be pretty on believable!
I think they should have a technical advisor somewhere on scene. Did anyone catch that Andrea used Rick's revolver to shoot herself and when you here the shot, it his folowed by the sound of a spent casing hitting the floor as if fired from a semi-auto pistol?
Also did anyone notice if anyone got shot during the "big confrontation" at the prison? All those rounds fired and I didn't see anyone get hit.
One more thing from a couple of episodes ago, Rick is in his home town again with Mishone and Carl and he's talking to Morgan and he says to him "we found a prison not far from here" or words to that effect. He's a sheriff's deputy and he just found out there is a prison nearby the jurisdiction he works in? I could understand it if he was a few hundred miles away from home.
I agree with Z.H. here about shooting the kid with the shotgun. It looked to me like he was going to pull a fast one the way he was hanging on to the gun.

Someone's been following the Mocking Dead on twitter? I highly recommend it. Great comments like, "I wonder what Andrea is up to? - said no one, ever"

I believe that is supposed to be the sound of the revolver itself hitting the concrete floor as her arm drops!

As for Rick and his group they were only trying to scare them off, knowing that the civilians the Governor came with would not want to go back for a second round!

There's no telling how far they went to get from the prison to Rick's old stopping grounds!? Besides obvious barriers on the road they could easily go 100 miles+ in an hour, remember there are no speed limits during a zombie apocalypse!

That sound was the "tink" of an empty casing hitting the floor, not a 3 pound Colt .357 revolver hitting the concrete. If that was supposed to be the sound of a gun hitting the floor they need record the sound of a gun hitting the floor a small cylindrical piece of brass.
Also, I don't see them driving a hundred miles just to go back to his home town to recover a gun or two hidden at a bar that he remembers the owner having.
OR............was it not an empty casing hitting the floor, but the spent bullet exiting her head?

I've never been in the situation to hear a Colt hitting concrete from about 2ft off the ground so I'll take your word!!

Pretty sure they went originally to raid the police station that Rick worked at, the bar was an afterthought....also better to go somewhere familiar than to wander aimlessly in search of the weapons!
No joke, straight from the Smith and Wesson forum http://smith-wessonforum.com/lounge/308498-walking-dead-finale.html (http://smith-wessonforum.com/lounge/308498-walking-dead-finale.html)
6 out of 7 forum members (many of them NRA members as well) agree it was the weapon hitting the floor!! :D

My wife made the comment about the casing hitting the floor. If you listen carefully it is the revolver hitting the floor. Not a casing. There is a metallic scratch sound more than a "tink" sound.

I could live with the inaccuracy of a shell hitting the floor instead of the thought of a $2000 Python grating along on a cement floor. I heard the sound and it was the gun, not a shell, very different sound.
markush
It did not sound like a casing hitting the floor to me...I heard the gun hitting the floor...and said, I sure am glad they didn't show the Python hitting the floor or I would have been sick!
Shooter2384

looseman
It was the Python hittin the floor.
speedyquad
if you listen close, two items hit the floor. the first one is a empty casing, the second is the python.
Rintimtin
Sounded a little heavy to be a .357 casing, pretty sure it was the gun itself.

I thought it may be the weapon hitting the floor as well. But I do enjoy finding holes in the writing.

Really? ... Never would have deciphered that from your previous posts. :o
Whoa! For a second there, I thought ol' Milton was recreating the boob-bite from "Twins of Evil"! :o

I agree with all your points above. I was talking about self preservation for the Gov's muscle. Forget about Woodbury, this crazy MF is going to kill me today or tomorrow, either way no way I'm going in the truck with him.
Even though I was disappointed with the finale, I'll still watch next season. I like how seem they keep Cutty from The Wire (Chad Coleman) in the plans for next year. He was one of my favorite characters in that show.
This made me LOL

Funny stuff. :)
Here's another good one. I laughed out loud (no really) at some of these...

Oh my goodness!! That video was super funny. ;D
I have a love-hate thing with this show. Some of the characters are great but others really bug me, and some of the decisions they make have been so ridiculous it's funny but somehow I'm still compelled to watch! I've enjoyed season 3 the most by far but agree the finale was a letdown. The Governor was a brilliant character but I fear he'll lose all his creepy charm now he's no longer running his Jonestown.
